Anyone shed any light on what it is, I thought it is the oil filter but not sure now, could it be a housing for the filter?
  2. I moor my NB at Golden Nook Moorings and I have a 40 foot boat, I can just about turn it at the widest pat of the cut just past the end of the moorings heading towards egg bridge, I went past the sign on Saturday and took some photos of the winding hole and the sign, ill try to up.oad them on here tonight, it seems that many boaters have decided to ignore the sign as it is warped and dented presumably as a result of bow fenders from hitting it whilst winding I resisted the temptation t wind their and have a full blown argument with the person that scurries out every time a boat looks to wind their, and I carried onto the Cheshire Cat and turned in the huge winding hole their, Their were two gents fishing in the winding hole, so as I approached I made my apologies to them saying I had to turn and I was sorry to spoil their "set", they were fantastic and said a cheery don't worry m8 it's cool you just carry on Who said fishermen are all miserable buggers Haha. Ill try to put the pics of the battered sign up tonight
  3. Pam Stu, Hope you will both be very happy with Mirage, she is a great little boat and I'm sure you will have loads of fun with her, I have been in the canal today with chest waders on reattaching the tow hitch, was a freezing cold day and not a nice job to do, Brian took the hitch off a few months ago to overhaul it and repaint it. He has now cleared all of his personal bits off her and she looks great, I've taken some more photos of her today internally, if you'd like me to email them to you then PM me with your email address and ill send them over to you. Once again congrats with winning mirage See you next week Nik
  4. Well Mirage sold this evening on eBay at a fantastic price of £2500, We hoped she would make a bit more but the owner is really pleased at the price, she is going to Telford in Shropshire to a couple that are completely new to boating but have so e experience of caravanning so I guess it could be an omen. Really pleased the boat met the reserve, mirage is being towed out next Tuesday and will be on the road to Shropshire. Thanks for the comments on here and Brian (the vendor) will no doubt love his new 30 foot steel NB. Give him a wave if you pass him he will be on NB Kalmdowne on the shroppie and Llangollen for the next few months. Great result for him and the new owners
  5. Many thanks for all of the replies, I shall be off out today trying to find the best product for the best price, Just got to try and remember to check the number on the filter now, do t suppose they would all be the same would they???? Once again thanks to everyone for assisting me
  6. Evening all. I've decided it's time to do an oil change on my bmc 1.5, I've wanted to do it for ages but everytime I plan to visit the boat I try to remind myself to note the oil filter number so I can get a replacement before I do an oil change but forget to check the number when I get their and only realise when I'm back home. Anyways, I'm going to the boat tomorrow and will get the number from the filter, that aside own anyone help me out with deciding what grade oil I should by to put in the engine once I've pumped the old stuff out and also approx how much should I put in? Also if anyone has any general hints and tips for. Carrying out an oil change I'd much appreciate your comments Nik
  7. Hi darren72 This is definitely the Same one, my friend Brian had some engine issues and took the outboard round to the workshop at barbridge, all sorted now.
  8. Brilliant bit of history, I had a call from the caraboat club this evening showing an interest in her, almost 1400 views in 24 hours and three bids so far, fingers crossed she sells well and my friend can get a good price for her.
  9. Hi johnmck Yes this is the one moored at Golden Nook, she is a great little er boat or is it caravan? I'm sure she will sell really well, got 96 watchers and over 900 views in 12 hours! Nik
  10. Kevinl I did put an update on this evening detailing the issues you have raised, I guess you must have missed it Nik
  11. Yes that's the one , thanks dovetail Wasn't sure how to do it but thank you Nik
  12. Evening all this is probably in the wrong section Just a heads up, I'm selling my friends caraboat for him as he has just bought a 30 foot steel nb, it's on eBay but not sure how to pot a link on here, if anyone knows how to do it then feel free to post it on the correct forum on here Many thanks Nik
  13. I think you all mean Mal Edwards and not Mel, had a fantastic chat with him a few years back in the Willeymoor Lock pub for quite a few hours over a few beers fantastic guy, i saw him on the TV many years back as i think he was given an OBE or even a MBE, as he was involved in kids trip boats etc

  15. Well after eight days on Ebay, & Apollo Duck my little NB sold Yesterday, she has sold to a lovely couple who spent six hours viewing her and absolutely love her for what she is, they are going to take her down to reading and use her for holidays and short breaks. deposit recieved yesterday and i got extremely close to the asking price on Ebay, i do admit that my advert on the "bay" was a little OTT in the wording i used but i stand by the price i valued her at and it proves that she was well worth it, i have seen lots of 23 foot Springers for sale and know their value, i have also seen 30 - 35ft boats valued at the same as Riff Raff, i knew someone would come along and see her for what she is worth. anyways heres to our next boat, and this time we have a wish list that we are working towards, heres my list starting from the top is our must haves fixed double shower we can stand up in front deck with doors (not window) full size cooker & fridge solid fuel stove roomy (ish) lounge area good solid hull sound engine thats basically it really, we are looking at the 35 - 45 foot mark and a cost of around £20k, were not under any illusions as to the boat needing any work whatsoever as long as it is basically sound and not a project boat. a trad would be nice but doesnt have to play a major part in the hunt for the right boat,we dont like to stand at the stern doors and see right through to the front doors (we like sectioned off rooms), "BUY A NEW BOAT!!" you might be thinking but were really not in the market for that just yet. so heres to the boat search. to add, mooring is sorted, funds sorted, this will be my fourth boat so i know what im looking at but if anyone knows of anything that might fit the bill then drop me a line Nik
  16. Thanks guys, i thought i was going to get a proper good old ribbing if i declared it was my boat, it did read a little obsessive/OTT i guess, lets hope it now reads better. i have had over 1000 views on Ebay, i thought wow thats amazing in two days but then i came on here and it looks as though a lot of those are from forum members. ah well heres to seeing how quickly (or slowly) she will sell. Nik
  17. ok time to stick my head up over the top here, its my little Springer that im selling and if im honest im gonna be sorry to see her go, ive just had a week on the Llan and she was just too small for me and the other half, so weve put a offer in on a Liverpool boat 35 footer with fixed double. lets clear up a few issues on here regarding my advert on Ebay - in 1991 Springers were building the Bugs out of 3mm steel, the previous owner had her specced up to 6mm the front lockers on a Bug were not standard so were an extra she is a lovely fit out as most of you have said and thats why im trying to get a little bit more for her. my ebay score, please feel free to read my feedback and also my comments regarding my not answering the phone to a potential purchaser of an item i was selling. the amounts of boats i have sold on Ebay, first one was my very first boat Dawncraft 22 Second one was my 23ft Springer (second boat) Third one was for a dear friend who had passed away fourth one was for a friend on the farm moorings that had no internet access with regards to me "Vetting" potential purchasers, put that on the advert so that i could try to avoid the fender kicking brigade that tend to turn up wanting to mooch around others boats, also i have had two people saying that they would rip it apart and start again as they rreally wanted a modern boat................. hope ive answered some of your questions/comments, if my advert reads a bit ponsy or over the top then i make no apologies for that as i do truly believe she is something special. hope that clears it up Thanks Nik Ok just had a look through my advert, i have to admit some of it was a little OTT, (that must have been the wine i had on Monday evening!!). i have revised the ad now, not sure how to post it on here but i hope it reads better now. i must learn to fully read and double check things before i press that post button!! Nik

  19. That my friend Brians boat, he had a little dandy for a while and he bought Mirage a few months ag, it is a funny little thing but very quirky. Brian is off up the Llan over the next few weeks so give him a wave, he likes to play tricks on people by shutting the curtains so it looks like the boat is cruising itself!! not many of them left now though im afraid, their is one in Australia and one in denmark cant remember the others tho. i too will be going up the Llan as of next Sunday so gimme a wave, ill be on NB Riff Raff
  20. thanks hamster, i have been on phone to fitter (yeah i know its late), he telle me all is ok but agrees that when he tried the website is down but doesnt know why, he says he will ask gaffer in morning and let me know. fingers crossed here....
  21. oh god lets hope its just a glitch, ive just phoned the fitter on his mobile and he tells me their is nothing to worry about............................. it seems a little fishy to me tho

  25. because some pees on here dont like others to post photos of their boats without asking permssion cheers Brian, i didnt see you pass this morning, i did see "Runcorn" come past but not yourself today, i did see you go down on Thursday and i spoke to the lady steering Alton, i asked if that was Georges boat and she replied "yes he will be passing in a couple of hours (i guess he was at Bunbury locks on board Bagder), what time did you pass me today (tuesday), it will be a busy day this Saturday as we have 17 boats being craned in to the water, lets hope the historic boats dont all turn up to pass the moorings at the same time as we may have a little blockade as we crane the boats back in. heres to the next gathering hopefully ill be their next year Nik
