  1. IIRC they weren't called Ponies, they were called 'Eco-Mowers'
  2. Absolutely.... and commercial suicide.... but, as we know 'all publicity, is good publicity'
  3. Whut? Hate speech? This thread (apart from a couple of posts which have been moderated) has been perfectly well behaved, and is a credit to CWDF members and the Mod Team.
  4. CCTV cameras were installed... Not to cover the entrance, parking, or boats..... They are long range cameras designed to spot people that don't collect dog poo on the dog walks around the marina. They were installed after PL's failed idea of forcing all dog owners on the marina to pay to have their dogs DNA recorded so that he could take poo samples from around the marina, and compare them to the resident dogs, so fines could be levied. Oh, then the dog toilets were installed...... *edit fro spleling miskates
  5. Just checked the email address I have listed here, and I haven't worked there for 4 years, so I can't! Sorry. Also tried to change to my current email, but it won't accept my password (going senile in my old age, so the tablet remembers my passwords for me). If you want to re-send it to b0aterstech at gmail dot-thingy com, substituting the zero for an 'Oh', then I'll respond straight away. Edited to add - - email sent, Marc. Thanks, G&F
  6. Well, as we seemed to have found that it's acceptable to steal from a charity, I'm off out this evening to ram-raid our local Oxfam*. *Not really, I don't want CSH reporting me to the Police twice in one week! Happy Boating to all the residents of PLM
  7. As I said before, they don't *require* keys. They will hold them at the customers request. I know a few people at the marina that have their spare keys at the marina office (or have done in the past).
  8. Common practice for non liveaboards.... PLM don't ask for keys AFAIK, but will hold them for you if you feel safer / happier / whatever that someone can look after your boat while you are away for a period of time. IIRC Clean Sailing (the current workshop tenants) moved into the workshop around Jan 2013
  9. That wasn't the first, and it probably won't be the last. A friend of ours, moored at PLM had a disagreement with PL. He is not liveaboard, so the marina office had the other set of keys for his boat (in case of emergencies). After leaving the boat for a week or so, he returned and put the central heating system on, only to find that it dumped the entire contents of the central heating water system onto the floor and into the bilges. A nut on a radiator had managed to work itself loose enough to barely catch a thread during the time he was away from the boat. So either - Someone with a key entered the boat while the owner was away, and loosend the nut Or - There is a poltergeist with a plumbing fetish roaming around the marina.
  10. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Phil Spencer <Phil.Spencer@canalrivertrust.org.uk> Date: 9 Apr 2014 16:55 Subject: Pillings Lock Marina To: Phil Spencer <Phil.Spencer@canalrivertrust.org.uk> Cc: Dear Boating Licence Customer Since I wrote to you on the 24th March there has been a lot of activity and which I can summarise as follows: 1. We have been informed that a new company Pillings Lock Trading Ltd (PLT) has become the owner of the marina. 2. That company has indicated that it is willing to enter into a new standard Network Access Agreement (NAA). 3. We are in discussions with Mr Roy Rollings the sole director of PLT and PLT’s solicitors about completion of that agreement. I had a meeting with Mr Rollings yesterday to discuss some aspects of the agreement and we are giving these discussions our absolute priority. The Trust is of course seeking to ensure that it is protected from a repeat of the situation that arose with the previous owner of the marina which caused us to revoke the original NAA. 4. The Trust will proceed with the works to sever the navigable connection in accordance with the timetable previously advised to you unless and until we have a completed NAA. So if we do not have a completed NAA by the 14th April – next Monday – the works to prevent navigation between the marina basin and the waterway will be installed. 5. I have previously advised that from the 14th April until the 31st May controlled passage out of the marina only will be permitted. I can now tell you that this passage will be made available on each Saturday between the hours of 10.00am and 1.00pm, a total of seven occasions. I hope the above is clear but if you have any questions please email me. 18. As previously posted, but with headers intact.... I had this email forwarded from a friend at Pillings this evening. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Phil Spencer <Phil.Spencer@canalrivertrust.org.uk> Date: 27 Mar 2014 17:35 Subject: FW: New Company Set-Up Complete To: Phil Spencer <Phil.Spencer@canalrivertrust.org.uk> Cc: Dear Boat Licence Customer Many of you may have already received a copy of my email below but as I do not know who Mr Lillie’s email group included I am forwarding it to you. I think it is appropriate for me to respond setting out the Trusts position. I can confirm that an email was received from Roy Rollings, Director of No.750 Leicester Limited, with whom we have been in previous correspondence, at 18.10 yesterday evening advising the Trust that a different company, Pillings Lock Trading Limited (company no.08957508), acquired ownership of Pillings Lock Marina yesterday and that this company would now like to enter into talks with the Trust with a view to securing a new Network Access Agreement. Pillings Lock Trading Limited was incorporated on 25 March 2014 and Mr Rollings is sole Director of the company. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of No.750 Leicester Limited of which Mr Rollings is also sole Director. The sole shareholder of No 750 Leicester Limited is Quorn Marina Holdings Limited (company no. 6002830) of which Mr Paul Lillie is sole Director and a shareholder. At present, the Trust has not been provided with any documentary evidence to confirm that Pillings Lock Trading Limited has acquired the Marina and the Trust will shortly be writing to Mr Rollings to ask that a certified copy of the Transfer Deed evidencing the sale is provided so that the Trust can be clear as to which company to enter into discussions with for a new Network Access Agreement. The Trust is willing to enter into discussions with Pillings Lock Trading Limited if it is the new owner of the Marina, however at present no information has been provided to the Trust to enable it to understand how this company will be funded, how the structure of the various companies within the group will operate the Marina and what, if any, financial security will be offered to satisfy the Trust that the company can meet the financial obligations which would exist under the terms of any new Network Access Agreement to ensure that the position of both the Trust and berth holders is adequately protected. The Trust will shortly be responding to Mr Rollings to seek further information. 19. There was a discussion earlier in the year in the GiffGaff forum, where they were having to cut the data connection for some phones that were using over 1gb per HOUR!! That's the kind of usage that has killed the unlimited internet for the rest of the community. I don't think GiffGaff are being unfair, I think that a certain percentage of users are abusing a small company. There was a competition on a new russian network earlier this year, to see how much data a mobile phone could consume on a mobile network, with a prize for the highest use (this was done to test their network stability / capacity). IIRC, the winner was in the region of 370gb a month!! I'll stick with GiffGaff as long as they remain competitive.
  20. The fuel piping is all copper pipe with compression joints, which to be fair drip like a 5 year old kid with a cold anyway!! Thanks for the advice everyone.
  21. Just wondering if anyone has any experience / thoughts / random comments about running an HR2 on BioDiesel? It would be fed via gravity from a day-tank, so no issues of it turning to gel in the main tank, or pumps clogging up. Mainly looking for ideas on how the engine would cope with it. Thanks in advance for any thoughts.
