  2. Im looking at getting a Cratch & Cover made for my boat, want one with a fold down table and all made ready to fit any recommendations? Preferably in the North West, Im on the Rufford Branch L & L
  3. Ill see if I have any, sure I may have a few somewhere I wired the genny so it was remote start from the kitchen, it was brand new when I fitted it and that chap used a landline perminently.
  4. And looking at the video, that's still wearing the same paint which was done in 2005 and still looking good altho I had a crème sign written panel on the rear with our names. Quite a few internal changes, mainly new worktops, bathroom sink and overhead kitchen display cupboards removed plus utility room altered...Has it still got the remote generator in the engineroom? still with that useless wind generator I see :-) I sold it to an old chap in Maghull, Liverpool presume you bought from him? Certainly stood the test of time being lived on there for 10 years solid!!
  5. I hadand lived on a V&G Engineering built 56 x 10.6 widebeam 'Apple of my Eye' for a few years 2005-2008 built around similar time to yours... Had zero issues, excellent build and needed nothing doing to it...Nothing else to add really but no complains from an ex V&G owner here!!
  6. I was at the ship early 2006-late 2007... I am thinking you are R and D's pal, Ive never met you, but he has spoken about you a couple of times (I work around the country and he said to call in on you for a beer etc when I was in B'ham last year)
  7. I used to liveaboard at the Bloodtub right at the top of Rufford Branch,Im pretty experienced with that stretch as I cruise singlehandedly (I have struggled with a couple of the bridges I hasten to add especially the one at Fearns Farm, just before Sollom!!) Just about to look at a 64 ft boat and I have a few pals at Rufford so would ideally like to visit, hopefully get a mooring there. thanks for the advice all
  8. Im actually thinking about mooring at Rufford Marina, coming down from the main branch so dont need to do the main Tarleton river lock.
  9. Sorry Dominic... My mistake, ABNB quote 62ft....dunno where Ive seen 60ft quoted then obviously some other site. But anyhow would a 64ft fit thro diagonally? Would the lockkeeper at toplock allow it?
  10. Hi..what is the absolute maximum length narrowboat that can pass thro the Rufford branch locks, go onto Leeds etc? BW say 62ft, ABNB say 60ft etc cant seem to get a definative answer... Im talking diagonally with fenders removed etc BTW cheers
  11. Quite amazed to find the builder was the same as the one who built my ex-widebeam..a 55X10 cruiser liveaboard... I lived quite happily on it for 3 years with absolutely no problems at all, did much upgrading and investigating (genny fitting/central heating mods/bathroom/kitchen alterations etc) and found the build/fitout absolutely superb!!! Just shows!!!!!
  12. Also well known as.... Hitlers Wharf!
  13. I got the same genny as 'ebay item no.. 180210685361' for my last widebeam, Wired the electric start to my kitchen for remote start purposes and fitted an exhaust thro the keel...what more do you need for £350!! Bought from KMSDirect via phone..was completely hassle free!!
  14. Great first post... Johnathan Wilson / employee bychance???
  15. I am just about to start a full fitout on a 60ft trad, does anyone have any details of chandlers offering good discounts for fullfit buyers? Midland chandlers offer 6mths @15% discount once you have bought £1000 worth of stuff at one visit....anyone know of anything better? Also anyone know the cheapest place for an Epping Range or of any 2nd hand ones around? cheers!
  16. Just received a letter from BW this morning saying the shower/toilet facilities at Rufford Toplock on the L & L are closing as from 1 September, due to financial reasons(£20000 PA to pump-out apparently)! Water point, will however, still be available.
  17. I submitted a wanted ad for approval on Saturday afternoon,It hasnt been posted yet. Any idea how long it takes for moderator approval? cheers
  18. thanks for the advice.. I presume from the info that the brass insert is threaded and screws into the welded in steel tube then! Think its gonna be a busy/wet weekend for me next weekend!!
  19. Hi..new here!! Got a leak on my stern tube, its actually leaking where the welded in tube joints with the brass propellor tube passing thro it,nothing to do with the greaser/packing. It leaks a fair bit more with the motor running(in gear or in neutral) then it settles down to a steady drip when the engine is stopped. How is the seal between the brass insert and the welded in tube made? Any ideas/helpful advice
