  1. I spose Aqualine and Collingwood have their place on the water as Bellway and Persimmon do on land......
  2. What about 2 of them, seperate ablutions are the secret to a happy marriage....... I'm not, but there's nowt stopping me from starting on a thread on 'em 😀
  3. I could start a new thread asking about the merits of bow thrusters, even a stern thruster too, in order to take the heat off the OP, I'm thick skinned.
  4. Melton Mowbray o'course. Due to be moored, when we get it, around Foxton Locks ish, which I thought was somewhere near where Matty40s is, or the lock I've seen his boat parked in anyway......now this got very convoluted.
  5. So from a newbie.....who's the (apparently not so) well respected boatyard then, as they appear to be in my neck of the woods?
  6. I've heard anecdotal evidence of Collingwood new build's epoxy peeling off in sheets after 2 years. My new build will be shot blasted to remove mill scale prior to being epoxied, I think it has to be, to get Jotun's full warranty.
  7. Stalker 😀
  8. Diesel, its not Finesse, I aint got millions 😀
  9. I'm generally a confident person, but feel I'm also confident in the limits of my own knowledge currently. I don't want to be over confident with an expensive new boat, that's when something snaps up and bites you. It is
  10. Boats going to south of Leics, just figured I'd use the experienced help until the non tidal bit (Newark best drop off point) and then do it myself, with the Mrs, from there?
  11. Is Keadby lock to somewhere in Newark , south of Cromwell lock, doable by someone of experience/boatmover in a day in mid summer? About 13 hours? Or would you give it 2 days? Ta.
  12. I am going to be in the same predicament in June/July. Sheffield to south of Leics on the GU somewhere. 90 mins in the car, a lot longer by boat! Not planning on being without experience Keadby to Newark!
  13. Yeah just wondered if anyone would stick their head above the parapet or is everyone totally legit. I do plan to continue to use my dodgy Firestick for TV reception.
  14. Thanks all, I'm fully aware of the legalities, hence why I didn't ask about them.
  15. Is all the stuff sold on canals red diesel or does it vary? Are you allowed to put it in jerry cans in order to keep an emergency supply for the boat, should you get low? Is it an unspoken thing that some canal folk may have put it in their road vehicle?
  16. Will be moving onto our boat next June as liveaboards, we will be cc'ers but will book a marina for the first year. We are currently Leicestershire based and the Trent and Soar might be a tad daunting for our first winter, so planning on using the marina as a 'safety net'. Most marinas don't seem to talk openly about residential and seem to term it as 'high usage', but as we initially plan to be living in a marina Tue-Thu and then on the move Fri-Mon (unless the Soar was in a particularly bad mood) would I be classed as a leisure user by marinas anyway? Ta.
  17. Yeah, I'll take that, just couldn't believe an alledged competent company could be so daft
  18. I believe they sold less than 20% of the tickets required and are offering a prize of £20k now. Bit of a disaster all round. Coupled with the fact that every vlog that the owners of their Crick runner up boat do, seems to tell the tale of multiple electrical issues needing to be fixed, they're not having a great time. Maybe they just churn out boats too often too quickly.
  19. There isn't and they do, which is why I called it a separating toilet rather than its commonly used misnomer, composting.
  20. Yes I'm aware of this, so it's either proper composting, to which I'm not overly averse......or as advised by many, including more than one seller at Crick.......get a dog. But that's a whole other thread...🙂
  21. We're 5'10 and 5'9 so not overly tall. I've never experienced one, but the idea of having a proper "house" king size bed definitely appeals. We've hired with the normal thin double lengthwise, horrible and also a full width lengthwise with no cratch, bed right up in the bow, which we don't fancy. Don't have a problem with moving the extending bit, it's a few seconds work, pros outweigh the cons imo. Also whatever bed we get, someone has to climb over to get to the loo.......unless I can fit a second loo (both separating) as a mini ensuite in the bow, seen it done in a 57' boat called ditchcrawler.
  22. Cheers all for the opinions, I guessed it might be an impossible question to answer. Let's approach it from a different angle.......... 60' cruiser stern, reverse layout, liveaboard cc, to consist roughly of..... 8' stern 2' storage/electrical area 9' galley ( full width eye level cooker, 3 gas hob, wash machine, under counter fridge and separate freezer) 6' pullman dinette 12' saloon 6' bathroom (walk through) 11' bedroom (6' ks cross bed) 3' cratch area 3' bow storage Obviously with bulkheads I recognise the rooms won't actually be this big. We want a large galley, as enjoy cooking, therefore also reasonable size cruiser stern. Does any of this scream wrong? Opinions? Anywhere you'd pinch a foot and gain a foot? Is a 12' saloon small?
  23. What would be a usual/standard....... if such a thing exists....... length of galley, dinette, saloon, bathroom, bedroom on a 60' cruiser stern with cratch?
  24. And is that down to boatbuilder choice or what? If that's correct then I can use it on the boat as a push on to screw on adapter is available. But is it allowed?
  25. Whilst we're on the subject.......I need to get a 13kg green patio gas for the BBQ, probably won't use it all this summer, is this the same stuff as used on a boat?
