  1. I need to replace the engine cover on my Semi trad NB. I currently have Hexagrip deck boards which is what I think I should use again (unless any other suggestions) Can anyone suggest where I can purchase Hexagrip deck boards from (near/in Northamptonshire)? Thanks Terry
  2. Thanks everyone for the advice. I now know the back and sides are steel. holes are at the top of the unit and due to rust. It is at least 15 years old. I have decided to replace it. Been thinking of putting wood burner in the garage, now I can. Boater in the marina has agreed to do the work. Now I have to find the replacement. Any suggestions welcome. NB 47 foot and used for holidays only. Terry
  3. Had the safety check completed on my NB yesterday. The Woodburner stove failed as the back plate has a couple of holes in it. Can I get it repaired? if so, it is worth the cost? If I decide to replace the stove any advice/help on what I should buy?. Any suggestions on who I could get to fit the stove. NB is in Northamptonshire. Thanks Terry
  4. thanks for the replies. If PRM recognise the difficulty why have they not provided a better dipstick solution? I have never had the problem reading a engine dipstick. I tried removing and cleaning the dipstick then putting the dipstick back into the geabox but not screwing it down then remove and check. I spoke to the engineer who fitted the gearbox and he told me using this method, the oil must not go above the bottom marker. seems to work.
  5. Hi everyone, changed the oil on my PRM 150 gearbox but when I check the oil level I find it very difficult to tell if there is oil on the dip stick. Is it just me? Terry
  6. Wow - very impressed. you should all become salesperson. You did a much better job than the guy I spoke to in the O2 shop. He said don't bother. Thanks
  7. Sorry if this has been answered several time before. I am planning to spend a couple weeks on my NB. I intend to take my laptop so i can surf the internet. However, what is the best method? I an told the broadband speed is very poor, is this the case?
  8. My new PRM 150 gearbox. needs it's first oil change. However, I cannot get to the sump plug. The engineer said he removes the oil by pumping it out rather than drain it. Is that what others do? and if so, what do I use? and where do I get the required equipment from?
  9. I am having a new engine fitted this week and was planning to have a cenntaflex coupling fitted to relace the existing bronze coupling. Is it worth it or am I wasting my money?. Thanks
  10. Thank you all for replying so positively. I feel much better about my decision. I am particularly please to hear the engine should not be to noisy. All I have to worry about now is getting the engine fitted. It as appears my NB keel tank is too small and the engine beds are the wrong size and nears cutting out and new ones fitting. Thanks
  11. Am I doing the right thing by purchasing a new Isuze 35 for £3,000. e.g. are they reliable? are they noisy etc? I think they may not be the best on the market but good value. Thanks
  12. Sorry to be a pain, but yes we have instant hot water heater and it's great. However, would also like a calorifier. I am also thinking of fitting out the bathroom. Currently, we have 4 inch deep shower trap which we empty, using pump, once we have finished showering. Are the B & Q shower trays deep enough?
  13. I assume you are referring to a keel skin cooling. if so, yes I'm not sure how this helps
  14. OK, I coming round to keeping my engine (anyway, I don't like spending money). However, I would like to fit a calorifier to provide hot water via the new engine. Can I run this from my existing engine? if so, what do I need for the engine attachments? if not, what are my alteratives available?
  15. I have a 3KC1 engine. I can get the serviceable parts easily but what about items like water pump, head gasket etc? When I purchased the NB the surveyer told me to change the engine because it was a 3 cylinder and there was a lot of vibration (I replaced the engine mounts). I have always liked the engine. You are correct the engine was installed by beta Thanks Can I have a Lister in a semi trad?
  16. Excellent advice so far. Not been put off the idea yet. Great. I currently have a old ISUZU red engine (1989) only done 1900 hours. but I have no manual, the red paint has peeled off in places and the engine is slightly corroding. However, very reliable. Not sure i can still get parts. Therefore, considering replacing engine. Looking at the pictures of the ISUZU 35 everything looks on the same side as current engine.
  17. Thanks for the responses I currently only complete about 200 hours a year. THerefore, cannot see the point in spending 6k on a engine, but I do want reliablity though. I was thinking of the blue engine. Not aware there are other colours. Any idea of fitting costs?
  18. I am thinking of purchasing a new engine for my 47 foot NB. Possibly looking a ISUZU 35 OR 47. NB is used for leisure only. Any comments/advice on ISUZU engines would be welcomed Also, any ideas on engine installation costs? Thanks Terry
  19. Thanks for the advice. I have already decided to buy a regulator.
  20. Hi, just purchased new 15in TV from Comet. Which is 12v output but I have only a 3 pin plug with the TV. Went to Maplins to get lead with Cigarette ligher plug. However, the TV is 4 Amp output which Maplins do not sell. Questions Is 4 amp TV OK on NB? If so, where do I get the right lead from? Thanks
  21. I am thinking of purchasing one of Maplin's portable satelite kits. My NB only has 12v. I only need to be able to pick up the main channels. eg BBC ITV etc I am about to buy a 15 inch TV. Which Sat. kit should I buy? Terry
  22. I am looking to replace the old 6 inch TV on the NB with a new 15 inch flat screen TV. We only have 12v on the NB. I know some TV's come with DC transformers. Can anyone recommend a low price TV and where to buy from. Internet or High street. Thanks Terry
  23. Thanks Daniel I agree with your advice, problem is affording a Honda. Cannot justify a new but maybe a secondhand one. I think I have decided not to buy a 2 stroke. Terry
  24. Thanks, sounds good, are they heavy to move around?
