  1. We are grateful for this proactive stance to get to the truth of what happened. In view of your comments Fuzzyduck, please, please, please, ask any questions you like, ON HERE (at the discretion of site owners of course) and we will do our best to 'fill in the gaps'. We welcome inveterate researchers! Cheers. Uncle Noah P.S. 2. Hello there! Was up in Birmingham just a few weeks ago doing some work for a project I am working with . Whilst standing at the ICC International Convention Center, right in the heart of Birningham, people were often telling me how ''close' the boat dwellings were......five minutes one way...........10-20- minutes the other. I cannot say for sure if there are any available, but it might be a place to start looking BEFORE the developers move in! I think being on the ground would be by far the best way to get more accurate information though. Best of luck! Regards, Uncle Noah
  3. Our sincere apologise in advance if this is the wrong section, but always grateful for inclusion where ever deemed appropriate. Thanks. Name: Houseboat Eviction Website URL: http://www.mvpicton.co.uk Website Description: A place to be educated in the issues of Corporate Social Responsiblity and Responsible Buisness Practice as it may apply to marina operations in the United Kingdom. The site includes text and photo introductions, providing an immediate sense, or grasp of the situation as it applies to one Family with five children, evicted by Crest Nicholson Marinas Limited. Anyone thinking of living on a boat may well find some valuable lessons to be learned from this Family experience. Any other comments: The Latest News Page is the one most updated, most frequently and it is to be found here: http://www.mvpicton.co.uk/latest_news.htm
  4. Maffi, the control panel says your inbox is showing full, and I would like to discuss some interesting news, but can not send PM because it is full. So......... There is nothing more that me, my wife and our five young girls would rather do than 'move on', and you are not the first to suggest it, ...and I am sure you will not be the last. The questions we are stuck with is how, and with what? When we can answer them, we will be ABLE to move on. The whole situation is 'locked up', out of our conrol with Government and Court Officials, including our MP, Alun Michael caught up with their own incompetance, action, and/or, inaction. It is rigid in some quarters, however........ It appears to be the case that the former marina manager at Penarth has recently left Quays Marinas Limited (the new company formed as a result of a management buy-out from Crest Plc) NO reason given, just gone, but I am sure it will have nothing to do with our campaign AND, more importantly, the Chief Executive Officer of Crest Plc, that's Mr John Callcutt, has also unexpectedly 'stepped sideways'. http://miranda.hemscott.com/servlet/HsPubl...r_client_id=216 We might well have be on the end of something nasty, but always being an optimist, we pray that all wars end in Peace! Our Campaign for Social Justice continues. I do not wish to offend the forum at all but administrators permitting, if you might like to share this news and the link, we would as always, be very grateful. Kind regards, Uncle Noah. The Shalom Family Campaign for Justice
  5. 14 years living in and on our our own houseboat home is f-o-u-r-t-e-e-n years. It Is, sorry, Was, a beautiful way of life. Does anyone else understand the beauty of living upon the water or how much it can be missed? We are so grateful for the private well wishes but nevertheless, we are sad, just so very sad. Our latest efforts in our Family Campaign for Justice http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/regions/wes.../08/320790.html Kind regards The Shalom Family Campaign for Justice Wales
  6. Hello again everyone, Interpretation and understanding about insurance can get mixed up. Please everyone listen to this advice because, from experience it may not be the insurance company who does the dirty on you. We hope not to bore anyone over and over but we believe a valuable lesson can be learned. We were advised by a 'Specialist Marine Insurance Consultant', (Bristol Channel Marine Insurance Consultants LLP) who arranged our insurance, fully insured up to £1M. There was an accident to our vessel, a 'grounding' or 'stranding' and the insurance 'cover' said this was 'covered'. So what was the problem? Well the marina company, (it was called Crest Nicholson Marinas Limited at the time but now it is called Quay Marinas) who do not dispute that they caused the grounding 'accident', deliberately failed to provide permission to us so that we could lift the vessel to get it checked over. The 'Specialst Marine Insurance Consultant' effectively advised, if you want to stay in the marina, shut up! Experts in doing what is good for business, which may not be what's good for you as a claimant. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE learn from our terrible experience. Request your broker, agent or insurance provider, (or Specialist Marine Insurance Consultant) to make sure that in the event that if you are misfortunate enough to sustain a stranding or grounding of your vessel in harbour (whether it be caused by the harbour authority or marina company or whatever), that you will you be properly covered, 'in all events', to get haul-out survey work done, wherever that haul out may have to take place. Get it in writing. We hope it never happens, but then, we never thought we would be treated so badly either, but it was not the insurance company who treated us so disgracefully. Kind regards, The Shalom Family Campaign for Justice Wales http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/regions/wor.../07/318335.html

  8. Hello John, It has come to our attention that you think there may be a hidden agenda regarding Mr. Shalom's attempts to air serious debate whilst still struggling to come to terms with loosing his entire worldly possessions, including his perfectly safe and satisfactory houseboat home of 14 years in a Crest Nicholson Quays Marinas beauty show. Everybody has the right to be suspicious or scared of things they don't quite understand but let's see if we can allay yours just for starters. Please do us the courtesy of sharing you thoughts privately via this facility or e-mail direct wwwnoahsark@aol.com Kind regards, The Shalom Family Campaign for Justice Wales UK If you prefer you can publish them to the forum, but in the circumstances that's your choice.
  9. Thank you Jon and thanks to all who have commented here already. We are very grateful. Our time available to reply is very limited. For those who are still curious here's a little more. https://publish.indymedia.org.uk/en/2005/04/308474.html Kind regards,
  10. Dear Richard, We believe that you are as much a stranger to us as everybody else on this forum but we are encouraged by the diversity of comments. Others here, are clearly spot on in the moral debate. If morality is not your thing, we understand why you would not labour with it. Because we have children who have also been shafted, directly affected, in that their home, and the only way of life that they knew, has been taken away from them, (for no other reason that a corporate beauty show,) we stand, for what we believe in. It is for the sake of our children, our family and we do not accept bullying. Please remember that ALL OUR PERSONAL PRIVATE POSSESSIONS have also been seized and taken away, including the possessions of our children. The only time to 'give up' any moral injustice is when justice has been served. Given these circumstances, we regret that we can not share you view of 'pedantic'. If you or Crest Nicholson / Quays Marinas would be kind enough to show us the way to just 'get on with', our lives, (without our home of 14 years or our personal belongings) and/or show us, how to 'allow' our children to get on with theirs, we would be very grateful to hear from you. Despite claims of 'hidden agendas' from other posters, we can assure you, that the only purpose of this campaign, as is clearly stated on the official website, is to obtain a 'Fair and Just' solution for the whole family. In our 'Great' British society, if good people do nothing, in the face of clear injustice, so be it. Anyone is invited to support the Shalom Family Campaign for Justice, it is not compulsory. Kind regards,
  11. Dear Sir, The site above is part of the indy media network. It operates around the world and is sometimes a prime feeder to mainstream media debates, but it is essentially a non-corporate grassroots project. We are sorry about this situation and understand your concerns. However, we do not know enough about these technical matters to give you a qualified reply on the matter of the security certificates. We are aware that not all web sites have them in place but nevertheless, some are still perfectly 'safe' to view. We would therefore invite you to satisfy for yourself of the credibility of the indy media network and make your own informed choice in this regard. As for publicity? We believe main stream media, which in itself is caught up in corporate politics, (it is a question of selling copy at the end of the day) may not always be enabled to deal with the detailed issues of a minority group, houseboat dwellers!! Publicity is not the be all and end all in this matter, but quality of debate, in a dignified manner, and preferably with respect to a modicum of privacy, most surely is. We would still recommend viewing the above link as it makes for interesting reading. Kind regards,
  12. Update to Houseboat M V Picton re- Nec Boat Show Protest. The following link is provided for those who have expressed interest. https://www4.indymedia.org.uk/en/2005/03/307747.html Kind regards,
  13. We have been blessed with five children. They have, until relatively - most recent times, only ever lived on a boat. Since they were born into this way of life, it's normal for them to be relaxed when in their normal environment. However, as responsible parents we have always taught and encouraged to them a simple message, "When is water dangerous?". The only answer, of course, is when you forget that it is. The same applies to fire, electricity, gas, etc. Children can get their head around this simple idea but it must be done patiently and with kindness, but firm too. Realising that you can drown in a just a few inches of water, is very serious, so there is no way to beat about the bush but it should be fun, to learn AND teach. As soon as they were allowed to go to the swimming pool, they were 'pushed' in, with love and kindness. Swimming is not the be all and end all. Learning not to panic IF you fall in, and how to stay afloat, IS. Hope this helps.
