  1. I may have a different idea of open water than you! Question- when navigating a lock - do you just leave one end open for the next person?
  2. Al you seem very het up about this mystery forum member you are projecting on to me - did he rebuff your advances or are you jealous of his boat or something? to reassure you, whoever you are harping on about, I am not him! Thanks for the info Rose, okay , understood 4mph limit so as to not accept other boaters, but on the open water with no delicate wildlife in sight .... I’m gunning it! clearly we’re not going to litter - we’re not from Bedford!
  3. Sorry Al but you must be mistaken - I am planning my maiden voyage - my boat will do 15mph - is there a speed limit to adhere to (or not as the case may be!)
  4. Hi Canalworlders, Big Tom Wide Girth Warrior here, Planning a trip through the old Blisworth tunnel next month and looking at lighting.. would you recomnend a 1,000,000 or a 5,000,000 candle flashlight to illuminate my path? ive got a massive disco ball on top of my vessel to alert others of my presence also cheers, Big Tom W G W
  5. Ahoy there shipmates navigating the old Grand union (Northampton branch) next month, can’t wait to go deep inside the Blisworth tunnel Whats this I hear boaters harping on about speeding and disqualification - there aren’t number plates on boats so what’s the problem!?! All best , Big Tom W G W
  6. Captain Pegg - I kindly ask you to refrain using insulting language against members, you should not be under the illusion that your long tenure of the website gives you a right to insult / act with hostility - poor form and frankly, disappointing from a Canalworld member. W G Warrior
  7. Thanks for the info Peter X - very useful. There will be two of us. Captain Peg, I explicitly was talking about locks and I can’t imagine what other meaning you could quite be insinuating - perhaps you’d care to share with the analworld forum members!?? I’ve bought the canal and river trust key, as I was told I’d need it - but as far as I can make out they are all windlass locks, or so you need to unlock them before you can operate them? Cheers, W G Warrior Canalworld*
  8. Thanks kindly for the info, glad the nav is back up and running - can’t wait to sail deep inside the stock bruerne tunnel out if interest, I see a large section of locks between Northampton and stoke brurne, how long does a lock normally take to navigate? I love having two vessels in my lock at once so that will save some time I guess
  9. Ahoy there shipmates! I shall be sailing this Nav next month - has someone sorted this obstruction yet or will I need to ram it out the way!?! Cheers, W G Warrior
