Moving boat from Shropshire Union to Grand Union Canal - Cry for Help!

We are brand new boaters and it's really nice to see things like this. It's a really nice community on the canals isn't it. We take ownership of our boat in a couple of weeks. We have an epic journey from the Oxford canal to the nene by March. With only weekends free it should take us till Christmas haha -
Ah ok. I'm next to a farm that has a tiny pontoon. Don't suppose it's up to him alone to give me permission..

Respectfully adding to this topic, Bringing our new (old) Springer home soon and thinking about home mooring. we are opposite the River Nene, our stretch almost looks like a canal as it's quite narrow. Can I just request to moor up in a quiet spot and apply for it as a home mooring on the river bank? Does the spot have to meet certain criteria, ie a fixed point to tie up to? Early days in the learning process Tom.
