  1. At the weekend several hire boats were absolutely belting it down the K&A as they went past me. Because my lines are very secure etc it doesn't bother me a great deal. The marina idea is rubbish in my opinion. It's like asking pedestrians to get taxis everywhere because they might get splashed be cars driving through puddles and the drivers don't want to slow down.
  2. A glaringly obvious and simple idea! Since BW blatently don't have the cash to do it, couldn't we do it ourselves?
  3. It doesn't seem to take a lot for the Avon to flood. We had a bit of a mental storm last night so I think it'll be a tad high for the weekend.
  4. Dip a bargepole in the canal to the bottom, compare the depth to her height so she can see exactly how deep it is. I do this for nervous guests and it works everytime.
  5. Google for "bike generator". They are very easy to make, no real electrical knowledge required.
  6. The "trial" certainly isn't going to promote a community atmosphere. Then again they're very keen on the line "blah blah we aren't a housing authority" or some bollocks.
  7. What really comes across after reading BWs press release, Eugene's comments etc is that BW has no idea what it is doing with this "trial". Typically of a government department it has come up with some bullshit notion and quoted "transparency and efficency" like all the rest of the spin addicted money grabbing bastards as justification to do whatever the hell they like. It's time this nonsense stopped and people started being a bit more fucking honest about things. It is vastly unfair on anyone on the waiting list already. Also, the non-acceptance of new applications seems very curious and I would almost take it as evidence that this "trial" is going to get automatic approval at the end of the 12 month period. Why otherwise would people be turned away from what they already know to be a lengthy wait? (Can you tell I'm angry?)
  8. Dundas has a fairly bad rep, several friends have reported various stomach complaints within 24 hours of filling up. Anyone know what's going on there?
  9. Hands up who reads The Daily Mail.
  10. Care to elaborate at all? I'd love to know how you reached this conclusion.
  11. I think it's more to do with not wanting to leave a mess for other people to deal with than being a "self satisfied do-gooder. "
  12. There are quite a few people living aboard that have environmental concerns and act in a positive manner towards minimising damage. There are also people with no concern at all. AnnieB would you mind posting a link to the low impact site you wrote about? Thanks.
  13. If 20 grand is going to push your finances I wouldn't go that high as there will be a lot of unexpected costs fairly early on. This looks alright for the price: http://www.harralbrokerage.co.uk/detail.asp?id=1398 Well worth a look I reckon. Good luck.
  14. I found myself sat at my desk in work swaying from side to side last week.
