  2. That's a thought... wasn't MRSA combated in hospitals by changing handles to copper?

  6. Virol, think my Dad used to have this as a child and he tried to make us kids have it too...... ?? he wasn't successful ? Anyone interested in why cod liver oil etc. was given to kids and how rickets was discovered. Here's a fascinating paper on it (not everyone's cup of tea I know) https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3899557/
  7. He and Downing St have denied this though.
  8. You could be right. The authorities say they're looking into the reasons why. Not sure anything will be published though.
  9. As I mentioned before, when Asian immigrants started to arrive in the 70s, their children were getting rickets. It's thought their dark skin was naturally blocking out the sun/vitD. It's what I was trying to explain, perhaps this could be the cause of why BAME are falling to this virus more than others. Vit D supports the immune system. In the 70s Asian immigrants were advised to make more use of eggs (good source of Vit D) in their diet. In the UK from Victorian times, poor children were given a spoonful of codliver oil before bed ?
  10. Perhaps this is why during years of bad weather pandemics raise their ugly heads. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Famine_of_1315–1317 We've only been recording weather for 'a blink of eye' in the life of our evolution.
  11. Because we've evolved to have lighter skin to soak up sun rays, the more northern you go, the paler the people, the closer to the equator the darker the skin.
  12. I take 2k IU a day which is a high dose, I wouldn't take anywhere near 60k. Though I do understand doctors can prescribe that amount for multiple sclerosis sufferers. Carrots are good for you..... but eating a kilo a day might just poison you.
  13. A friend sent me this BMJ article - it's too technical for a non-doctor to understand but I'm picking up that Vit D (if you've got no issues with it) is worth effort. You must do your own research, and take professional advice. https://www.bmj.com/content/368/bmj.m810/rr-24
  14. Italy and America were the first to block flights from China. This virus doesn't appear to make much sense, thank goodness there're some awesomely clever people worrying about such things.
  15. I couldn't possibly comment ? ? {sorry - joke}
  16. COVID19 certainly is bringing out the best in people, but unfortunately it's bringing out the worse! Sorry for your friends experience.
  17. So we've got another 3 weeks on lock down. Personally this doesn't really bother me all that much, but it's sad for those who're finding it hard. I hear New York has been locked down for another 3 weeks, until 15th May. ----------------------------- Oh dear! What a shame...... never mind!
  18. Depending on what's the advice. I do have a City & Guilds certificate in Nutrition, granted obtained decades ago. With progress of nutritional science my formal qualification is way out of date. I'm saying this to demonstrate my interest in nutrition, my knowledge could be rated a tad above 'Joe Blogs'.
  19. I'm not though. I'd never dream of doing that and I'm sorry you'd think that. I'm merely pointing to a possibility. It's up to you, and others to research. Would you really deny people the knowledge of taking something that's relatively innocuous, and which could help? There's a video I posted on another thread from a doctor...... this is information you can take, or leave. It's your free will.
  20. Women can lose up to 20% bone density after menopause, therefore many could possibly be taking Vitamin supplements to help their body retain calcium..... and the best vitamin that supports the absorption of calcium is........ wait for it.......... VITAMIN D!

  22. There's a really nice pizza restaurant where we used to go regularly, sad to hear it's run out of dough ?
