Pennine Boats said they will test the batteries before talking about an alternator upgrade. Still at 75% after five hours travelling (did I mention I don't do fast) moored up after bridge 188 try for Silsden tommorow. I did swing bridge by myself it wasn't a pretty sight but I did them. Got a free pass with one but the other three was all me. Got rope caught in one of them and jammed the bridge for a bit Lost radio at bridge 188. Had a choice of grabbing the rope or the radio so I chose the rope. The water is blooming hot! The engine has heated up my water! I didn't have to take a bucket into the shower with me it was brilliant ( I sound great in there) I didn't leave my last stop till 12 due to Mr Kipplings fondant icing overdose the night before. Stopped twice to walk the pup and a tea break. Would have gone further but I broke my bum getting back up on the swingy bit at 188 (may have multiple fractures or just a graze) Feeling much braver now. I did stalk Mr Nightwatch for advice on doing bridges alone. He will be saved when I get round to taking over the world. Thanks chaps. Are battries expensive?

Thank you for the replies ( makes me feel warm and fluffy inside) I have a small portable inverter from Amazon but I can only charge laptop when it's off. It's a 240 volt one. Pennine Boats says they would test my batteries as they only go to 75% seems my alternator isn't fit for the job. I trust Pennine boats plus this boat was rejiggered to work on plugin from marina rather than the boat. Weather forecast looks good for Wednesday (I don't do wind or rain) so I'm heading to Silsden as I need clean bits and bobs. Never been to Silsden so hope I can find a place to moor. Can't always use the phone as I seem to be cursed with areas of no signal. If I can't afford a invertor/alternator to be installed I'll hit maplin for one of those heavy duty ones

No one told me the day I planned on going full Captain Pugwash I would have to hide from a stampede ofNarrow boats of all shapes and sizes! Not saying I was frightened (not on the forum) but a strange smell may have been emitted. The only boat I recognised was 'Narrow Boat Helen' from YouTube (he's sooo dreamy) and he waved at me as I clung onto my boat for dear life, so I guess that means we're married I'm in Keighly getting supplies. Its dawned on me that I have less than four months to get my boat fixed up enough before I leave Skipton. Things I need Alternator Inverter Door lock needs replacing Fridge needs removing Tiller needs new/more balls Radiators and water needs sorting out (still) Solar panels installing Does anyone know how much it would cost to get a new alternator and have it installed by the boat yard? How much does a inverter cost to buy and have it installed? I can only charge my laptop when it is off and I would really like to use the plug sockets. Found one bridge I like because it's an electric one and on the right side of the canal Found out why I keep on finding worms on the boat (yay it's not a dead body) stupid cat keeps bringing them Pup is a complete idiot still. Thank you Lysander. I was close to tears ( don't tell the forum). Never travelled far as I was so tired today after not sleeping. Past Snaygill boats near a white marker. Cleaned the boat, showered (room temp water) shaved, then slept till five (said I was tired) Going to do a very slow lurking cruise till the 26th then lurk slowly back to Skipton for more boat fixing money to spend.

Got her Handyman woke owner ( blooming lives there) Got my girl back with no drama

My cats are missing. They always come back and go out, use the loo and get food and water but haven't been back since 5pm. Walked up and down can't hear or see them. My cats never stay out or away this late. Think they've been locked in someplace or kept some place

I use a kettle and a bucket to wash. Permanently dirty and have a unique smell (stink). Use Audible books and go shooting and walk the dog . This is the only website I browse now, no moreYoutube or pirate sites (I miss Major Crimes). Try to get to bed by 8pm as I'm pooped and would have been up since 4am (empty dog)
