It seems to steer very positive with lots of power and is quiet at the helm p.s that's my mate at the helm sailing it back for me

Hi Matty, I paid £5k which i think is very good i have funds now to get welding plating done if necessary? i intended buying something for around £10k needing work so hopefully this will be a good un when hull has been sorted it had a hull survey in 2003 unfortunately there is no evidence that it was blacked but i cannot see why it would have been taken out of the water and not blacked? the thinnest gauge noted was 4.9mm in 2003 how did the owner bend the rudder that badly??? and when you did the rudder did the hull look sound?

Hi, I have just bought a 31ft Narrowboat that was built by A Rice in 1969 does anyone know anything about this boat or boatbuilder please?

LOL its 31ft long but i like your thinking Athy should i paint Fyffes on the side of the boat do you think

Athy they are called Banana engines due to the shape of the inlet manifold on top of the engine that resembles a bunch of Bananas by all accounts it sounds a cracking engine i have read good for at least 300k miles before re-build as far as the boat builder goes i also as Manuel would say "i know nothing"

My newly bought Narrowboat built by A.Rice in 1969 i collect her in a weeks time me and the wife can't wait she will be restored to her former glory by me and the wife to as authentic as possible NO modern Ikea MFI etc etc going on this beautiful Lady! It's just a shame the original Perkins engine was replaced for a 2.5 Transit engine but i am told it's a Banana engine that is bomb proof so not to grumble i suppose the original name of "Ngombe Shenzi" was also changed to "Moon Dust" which i can't complain about and is very apt i think being built in 1969 when a certain two people walked on that big silver thing in the sky

You can just open all doors and shine it though them

Juts attach an object to the stern or bow get a laser measuring device point it at the object from the other end and away you go end of wow i just answered my own question

This Narrowboat is a no go i have walked away too much work and too many problems

Blimey all i wanted was to get a little info on my pre-purchase boat and i have tape measures rudders and expensive meals!!! lol thanks for the info all i do appreciate really i went to see the boat in question today and was very impressed i think this needs a new post which i will compose for you all to peruse over

I have checked several boats on Canalplan which have been out the water years that are still on there and they have come up with different lengths to what is actually advertised which is important to me as the mooring i have is very restricted sometimes you get the builders name and what hull it has.

Would like to check the registration number to find out a bit of info before i view that's all

Thank you again all for the suggestions very much appreciated indeedy i have put a Deposit on the said GRP Narrowboat and collect it early March well i say collect i mean move onto it as it is only a few yards from my mooring

Fudd if they are that good why have they not been fitted to all boats money i suppose ?
