  1. That's what i was thinking ie a box type thing to bring the Morse control away from the bulkhead so i get the full throw of the lever so come on show me your wierd on different Morse controls preferably bulkhead mounted ones please I have won an MT2 single lever top mounted type off eblag which will be fun trying to adapt to fit Robbo if i do not need the levers you can have them
  2. Hi All, My boat is of 1969 vintage and has two separate controls for the throttle and gear shift these are mounted on the bulkhead (see picture) which i find them difficult to use in some situations i am therefore going to replace them with a single lever Morse control has anyone got any images of there Morse controls if any are bulkhead mounted so i may get some ideas please
  3. Thank you for all the advice and suggestions which i really appreciate BUT it has confused me even more now as which route to go down
  4. I was going to do it myself ie buy 1mx10m of fibreglass matting/webbing and go for it the cheaper alternative was seam seal the whole roof then lay a artificial lawn on top to hide the imperfections and stop the UV killing the seam sealer That looks good to me where is the bad bit before
  5. That was my thinking but to fibreglass the whole length of the roof with matting the roof it is steel clad with Galv sheeting which is pretty thick as i said it is also rust free i am confident that fibre glassing will seal everything from the elements but my only concern is what the end product will look like ie a roof with many ripples and imperfections/indention's i suppose you can't have it all
  6. All good suggestions please keep them coming
  7. No i haven't the wood looks very good from inside the boat which is around one inch thick t&g there is little bit of rot where the screws penetrate there are little drips from each one The sheeting is rust free and i don't really want to disturb it if i can help it i think if i can seal the whole roof asap i think i will have got there just in time before it spreads any further causing major problems in the future
  8. Dave thanks for that but there are many in ie the length of the boat and width there are also several sections of sheeting with a sealant type stuff which i think has failed also my ideal easy fix would to be to coat the whole roof and be done
  9. Hi All, I own a wooden topped narrow boat which has been plated with galvanized sheeting before my ownership and i must say they did a very good job the problem is there are many leaks the many many screws from where the sheeting is screwed to the wood there were also leaks from the hand rails which i have successfully sealed but the screws are the main problem I have considered removing all the screws and sealing the holes but i don't think this will be a sure seal as the wood they screw into is not it's best the sheeting is also in sections which may also be leaking?? so my question is has anyone had this problem and if so how did you cure the leaks Is there a coating that can be applied to the whole roof to seal it all in one go i have even considered coating it with epoxy sealer then laying a lawn of artificial grass to make it look half decent after coating the roof ?? so what do we all think? any help or advice very much appreciated P.S the picture attached is when i first bought the boat in March it has been tidied up since then
  10. I admit those programs are drivel and only watch the odd one as i am intrigued on how these lazy cough cough get away with continually draining the country due to there food intake and lack of movement which creates the ailments etc so are a result of there actions the last time i ever claimed from this country was over 25 years ago and have worked and never claimed a penny since as so does my daughter rant over
  11. How rude and demeaning of you CHUBBY i also find it very disturbing that some folk are so sad and have nothing better to do than to sit on a pc and take the pee out of other folk for no other reason than to be rude and degrade them for there own satisfaction that also beggars belief !!!
  12. Hi All, Can't believe we saw our boat on the programme "On Benefits and 30st" on our digi box tonight boring to most i know but we were quit excited to see her on the big screen she was moored in Rugby
  13. We had quite an exciting day to i admit am only a novice myself with only 18 odd months experience i give way as much as possible but if your actually in a bride or exiting it is down the other traffic to hold off! Which a boat didn't and nearly hit me head on as would not slow down to let me get clear of the bridge this was near Hopwas traffic seemed very busy today the most i have seen am i glad i am back home now think i may give Bank Holidays a second thought next time
  14. Fozzi you could just buy mine http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/152526559659?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649 no plating worries and ready to go
  15. I bought my boat without a survey yes i have taken a risk but she cost me half the price of what i expected to pay so the savings will help with survey and plating if needed i can only get third party ins due to the fact of no hull survey and her age she will be surveyed very soon OUT of the water and i agree £1400 is way over the top to crane out and black you could just walk away and look for another with a survey or just but my GRP Cruiser just my two peneth worth
  16. Hi All, Sorry for asking this but does it have to be actual Stern Grease used in the greaser the reason i ask is i have in my garage a very large tub of car grease which i have had for years would this be ok to use in the stern grease tube? thanks in advance

    reversing

I find reversing particularly difficult due to the loss of my right arm my new boat has a separate accelerator and gear levers plus the tiller of course! i did find my first reverse manoeuvre quite daunting to say the least i think was trying to do the manoeuvre too quickly but doing it very very slowly does help a bit
  18. I hope not what does a Klaxon sound sound like this sounds like a loud low buzz
  19. Hi All, Here is my shiny new Apollo Klaxon horn circa 1920s to early 30s beautiful just like my boat will be sad i know but i just had to show it off
  20. My new purchase has arrived at my mooring i am very happy with my purchase it's made a difference just removing the drab old curtains! the Grandson was in every nook and cranny looking for hidden things
