  1. Need to replace my battery, there’s now an Energy Leisure L110 but the latest one of the same type is too large for the housing. Can anyone recommend a smaller one no more than 34 x 18 cm. depth not a problem. Tx
  2. Have a dated Sterling International charger on my 2005 boat, should I leave it turned on when leaving the boat for weeks. Eg 4 weeks and 6 months over winter? Is it better to get someone to turn it on for a few hours every week while the boats left?
  3. Tx for responses, good idea to store in front locker
  4. Tx, wondered about putting it on the bow close to tank with its own pump?
  5. I know this seems a bit ott but are having a new build, anyone heard of an outside tap on a boat. Thinking of one to shower down the dog. Please no stupid comments just sensible constructive ones please
  6. Often no data reception on the cut.
  7. Where’s the amplifier, are the speakers built in. Need data coverage of course and that’s not always possible on the cut. Tx
  8. Do I need to use the trad car radio? Plan to have speakers in the roof and I need something which accepts Bluetooth, has a dab radio and also takes a card or usb. Cd not required. Anything on the market which can be built in and looks smarter than a car radio?
  9. am sure this will have been raised many times but cannot find any references to it. Intending to have a new build and have set in my mind that 57ft was the max length that can navigate the whole network. My builder assures me a 58ft can manage all locks, may mean going at an angle in some? What about the buttons at front and rear? can some one tell me max. size for this network please and where are shortest locks.
  10. there really useful ,thanks. Planning on having a sweep thru galley and walk thru toilet area, its all a bit of a rush at the moment, but great help.
  11. ok thanks, just wondered if there was any advice re positioning, eg, over worktops, table etc and places to avoid. Any pitfalls? Tx
  12. after many years going to have a 57ft trad built with trad layout, want to have two side hatches but not sure of where they need to be positioned. Need to decide this soon as shell spec needs sorting. Anyone any plans, photos of such showing positions would be greatly appreciated.
  13. was hoping to park a 57ft NB in LV for 3 nights from 16th June but the moorings are all booked. Am I likely to be able to moor there without a booking, anywhere nearby?
  14. Sorry to hijack the thread, I hear there is sometimes a convoy system for nb going upstream. Anyone any further info please
  15. What I plan to do is......will be travelling north so will wind just before the tunnel then moor up facing south. Show and then sail off going south, think I can wind just at south portal of the tunnel?
  16. that makes up my mind, many thanks, assume I will have to go thru the tunnel to turn round to go south?
  17. You’re right, intend to leave Sunday Do u know if there’s a footpath on Watford road? Intend to walk back probably in dark with dog?
  18. That’s really useful, how far away from the south end of the tunnel can you moor?
  19. want to walk to the show and not sure of the path over the tunnel, I dont thinks iits a straight forward route. were you on your own for the whole of the show? we want to arrive on the Wed or Thursday and leave Saturday
  20. Think that’s in wrong direction as I tend to go to Norton junction but thanks Concerned @bout the availability of moorings, what do you think?
  21. local knowledge please- want to go to the show. Will be taking my narrowboat and was hoping to stay at Yelvertoft Marina for 2 nights but are fully booked. Is there anywhere south of the Norton Junction on the Grand Union (thats the way we are heading to London) where I can leave the boat for the day, and get transport (bus?) to Crick for the show or even a taxi just for the day? have a dog to complicate matters.. Dont think there is anywhere on the GU between Norton and Crick where I could stop and get transport?
  22. Thanks, seats not a problem but the pedestal is an issue. Ones on eBay are a stand type and need one that will bolt or weld on.
  23. Looked on eBay can’t find anything. Can’t find one for sale anywhere
  24. looking for something a little more permanent but thanks for reply, appreciated.
