  1. Everybody who has a smartphone can be tracked, do these people bemoaning a lack of civil liberty have Alexa in their homes or boats? That is a whole new level of invasion.
  2. I don't need to be tracked, as I said if you are not breaking the law then what's the problem, maybe cctv is wrong as well.
  3. An on demand water heater may be a better option.
  4. I always find this 'loss of liberty' argument strange. If you are going about your lawful business then what does it matter. Movement can already be traced via mobile phones anyway.
  5. Cheers for your help Mike, have been running it on a lower setting for the last couple of hours and have had no issues, this makes sense.
  6. The little red light on the control box was flashing, this means that everything has gone out. This is the light that flashes in the morning until the boiler ignites, this also flashes when the gas runs out. Nothing would re light until it had cooled down.
  7. We had the temp setting on the max, as we have done for the last 5 years, not had any problems with the pilot light or the boiler cutting out .
  8. When it boiled over yesterday morning, the boiler cut out and wouldnt re light until it had cooled down.
  9. Ok, so to eliminate the fault you describe, a new gas valve? I take it there is no easy way to test this with the lack of electrical connections.
  10. This one then. Not had a really good look , but couldn't see any obvious signs of electrical connections.
  11. Are these the connectors that control the gas valve?
  12. Are the electrical connectors on the gas valve accessible by just removing the bottom outer cover ?
  13. The overheat sensor is clipped into the main body and is in place with the clip intact. The thermostat appears to be working. I am now running the boiler on a lower setting, let's see how that goes. You know they are the worse kind.
  14. Just run the boiler without the pump running and after about 5 minutes, the full flame dropped down to pilot flame as it warmed up.
  15. We very rarely have the radiatior circuit open, and everything has been fine up to now, turning the setting down is an option but this is assuming the thermostat is working correctly, which is what I will check today.
  16. Cheers Mike, will get onto it in the morning and report back.
  17. I do have a multimeter and know how to use it, but I have no idea of the workings of an Alde boiler, might be a quick learning curve coming up.
  18. Will do and report back in the morning, have a hunch it will boil over but we will see.
  19. Ok , no probs, maybe I should run it in the morning without the pump running and see if it overheats, if the thermostat works it should hold the water in the system at the right temp without overheating or am I missing something.
  20. Usually turn the boiler off when the water is hot enough for a shower but not exclusively so, swmbo has just washed the dishes with the boiler running, is this significant?
  21. Usually leave the boiler running for an hour, that heats up the water for washing up and a couple of showers.
  22. The radiatior circuit is turned off, the boiler only heats the calorifier.
  23. It must be an intermittent fault, it's running now and not overheating, seems to do it when fired up from cold. When re started after overheating it seems to run ok.
  24. So there may be a bigger issue than just the pump.
  25. It is running again now, whilst it is running and not overheating I will leave it as we need the hot water, when I have some hot water I will take the pump outvand check it's not slipping, but it sounds like it could be, I can see the rubber sleeve just below the motor and this is spinning. Cheers Mike, will check that too.
