  1. Yes it is possible to work and cc, we commuted into London from Rugby, Stone, Leighton Buzzard to just name a few last summer,. It seems more and more people are boating out of London, and communting in with the earlier post that states Ricky is getting busy, it's only £14 on the oyster card. Have met many new boaters North of Ricky who are boating out of london and commuting in. Many have asked about the WMP displayed in our window and see it as a viable option over the winter as transport link into London are good all along the midland train line running next to the canal.
  2. As noted from NABOs meeting minutes with CRT. This summer from the start of one winter mooring to the next, l cruised over 400 miles, l wonder what the percentage is of other ccer's who also cover such distances?
  3. Did speak to the local enforcement officer regards winter mooring in Berkhampstead who said the waitrose pound was all ok for the winter mooring permit. However with nearly all the boats moved from the park, there is no passing through space this morning. I calculate 8 boats here have WMP, 9 others are passing through. l have spoken to a few local residents who seem to feel it's very busy here with boaters as did the enforcement officer when l spoke to him. If the waitrose pound was no longer used for WMP, boats could Moor near the flats below by the rising sun or Northchurch, but this is quite close to residents homes, so who knows where the boats wanting WMPs next year will go.
  4. Signs gone up today from the council, no mooring all along the off side by the park all the way up to the water point. Was previously a popular 14 day general mooring amongst boaters. 14 days on general towpath side still available, amongst us winter mooring permit holders.
  5. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 10 posts to view.
  6. Thanks for all the info, very impressive. Having cruised over 400miles this summer between winter moorings. And currently a boater with no home mooring, will be joining NABO.
  7. I was a member of the ACC, it seems to be solely run by Jenlyn.. Also like yourself have been considering supporting another boating association and on reading Alans posts, it will probably be NABO. I wonder if Tuscan can tell us some more about cc representation, l heard via Facebook that a cc was recently elected to committee and was reported as being a welcome addition for CC'ers. In the meantime l continue to contact CRT as the need arises. I was impressed that when l contacted CRT regards the changes to the VMS at Atherstone, it was reported back that some of the planned 48 hour moorings would now be 7 days and that NABO had also intervened in opposing the changes, so it seems both individual and association representation can work hand in hand.
  8. Agreed only a good response when dealing with CRT, had a great summer cruising between taking winter moorings and looking forward to this summer cruising also.
  9. A good number of like minded boaters arranged through Facebook to attend the Birmingham open meeting held by Richard Parry. Mainly in response to general live aboard bashing at the previous Milton Keynes one. Unfortunately it now seems these open meetings are on hold. Sharing information that Richard Parry was holding a twitter and Facebook debate also sparked a good amount of interest. So it does appear that boaters can use these channels to get involved. There is constant requests from boaters on the london boaters facebook page, organising canal clean ups, asking for feedback from CRT meetings to channel back and motivating other boaters to get in involved and attend meetings.
  10. Could Paul also run it without an elected committee and debatable membership. It could be a one man band association and CRT would be none the wiser, Paul could just say he chairs an association representing boaters. As CRT seem not to take much notice of the associations bar NABO, l can why some boater prefer to represent theirselves entirely.
  11. From NABO's notes from the associations meetings it seems NABO were given one day to respond before meeting with CRT,, there has been no consultation, leaving us all only to react. It's okay discussing here, but telling CRT directly is important.
  12. These are notes published by NABO on their Facebook page, which have been shared in various groups across the net, good to see NABO trying to keep as many boaters as possible aware of discussions at these meetings.
  13. Good point, NBTA is free voluntary donations welcome and currently NABO do seem the most impressive, maybe it's time to sign the dotted line and give my support, they are already preparing a response to the changes in The terms and Conditions of the licence and the fact they share information openly is a positive.
