  1. It's the cause of a few sinkings on the Huddersfield narrow canal.
  2. Sounds fair enough to me.
  3. I know a few people with that top. It's cosy and fairly easy to get watertight. Nice job you're doing. One of the weaknesses is the handrails.
  4. Did I say that? No. Try reading again without your preconceptions covering your eyes.
  5. London is crowded, go by bus, it's crowded, go by car, it's crowded, why would it be any different by boat. There's lots of peaceful empty room in the countryside. The myth that overcrowding on visitor moorings is down to the liveaboard community has been debunked so often you'll have to find something else to sneer at. And yes, it is a community in London it works exactly like any other community. I suggest you follow the Facebook link above if you want a flavour. I also suggest if you are having difficulty boating in London ( I never have) you put pressure on CRT to provide more facilities and stop trying to blame someone else.
  6. Have you thought of taking English lessons? What on earth does that gobbledygook mean?
  7. I imagine that's the forum owners choice.
  8. What a strange reply. You don't appear to be asking as much as passing judgement. Of course it could have been avoided. That's hardly the point though.
  9. Stupid question - stupid answer. Of course someone should have noticed before it was a problem. That was the problem.
  10. I'll remind you of this post if it ever happens to you. You might have a bit of empathy for someone on a scary and confusing situation. No, hang on, silly me, it's you, you don't do empathy. I'm glad you were born knowing everything.
  11. Please please please when you've sorted the immediate problem, sue them. It's about time they were stopped. They have done this kind of thing before Take lots of pictures, not only of the fan belt but of all the other work they are supposed to have done. Post the pictures here ( ask for help if you need it ). Write down, as near word for word as you can, the phone call as this is also evidence.
  12. No, sorry, I do not accept this. Racism has no place here or any where else. I do and will challenge it anywhere. The OP is perfectly entitled to give his opinion on fishing law.
  13. I'm asking for your opinion on post 21. I know you didn't write it. At least four people objected to it. Not just carlt.
  14. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 10 posts to view.
  15. Yes, I thought you might consider yourself to part of a community or two. So what gives you the right to look down your nose at other people who may see themselves as part of a community. As for pigeon holing folk - that's your bag not mine, I'm just taking issue with you ( the individual) for doing exactly that. Why should you be surprised that your derision attracts derision?
  16. Seems a little pointless to make such a statement that can be so easily disproved by looking at the timeline but have it your way John. Here's the page; https://m.facebook.com/groups/73933281285?ref=bookmark How many posts fit your criteria? I found one and even that was just someone asking for a boat to rent cheapish.
  17. That will forever be 'The Law of Bob' because it sure ain't written anywhere else.
  18. It would be your CMers causing the congestion in the 2nd lock at Hillmorton? C'mon get some consistency in your bigotry.
  19. Being a member of said group you're wrong and just wishful thinking. I hadn't been there for a while and just checked there's even a post using the words 'starboard' and 'port' - you must admit a bit above 'pass the special brew' It's accepted by everybody including CRT that the facilities in London are not up to scratch. As my signature says.... blame the poor. Actually I'll pull you up on one other thing; who gets to say the canals are primarily for leisure? Is that a law? Or just a fight?
  20. London is always going to be tricky but I agree not since Victorian times have we seen such housing poverty and for exactly the same reasons. That your father, and mine, was able to buy a good house in the early 60s is proof that it didn't have to be that way. (I did think if I said 70s I was wandering into disfunctional times. ) Social housing policies and fair rents worked a factor better than the sordid free for all of now.
  21. Again, you are completely missing the point. Unless you mean 'people shouldn't live on boats'
