  1. My Mrs & me spent a very enjoyable 20 mins or so looking round 'Equus' a couple of months ago when we were at Iver checking out potential boats to buy. We felt it was a bit impractical for our purposes- eg, no way thru from stern to cabin. However it has a lovely interior and lots of character- my other half thought it was an absolutely beautiful boat.
  2. Oh, sorry for that! BTW, my Mrs has asked me to mention that she thinks it's a nice cosy colour. Needless to say, when it comes to us re-doing the interior of our boat, I'll make sure I'm the one buying the paint .
  3. For what it's worth I think the interior decor is quite appealing, apart that is for the puce panels in the saloon which you could easily repaint in a less glaring colour. The grey superstructure is a bit stark but it would not be too difficult to add some coachlines etc to liven it up a bit. BTW, if you buy the boat and decide you really don't like having that generator, I'd be happy to take it off your hands!
  4. Thanks Bizzard. As it happens I have once been to Mt Ararat, by bicycle. The view was very pleasant and it is near a very nice pub. Though I have to admit, it was not the mountain in Turkey, but a slightly less impressive grassy knoll on the Isle of Wight by the same name. Fortunately or otherwise, I don't think I'll have to take too much evasive action to avoid arriving by narrowboat at either of these prominences - unless we get much more of the weather we were having in London this morning!
  5. Thanks for making me feel welcome . It looks like I'll be collecting her next Saturday. As I can't get much time off work at the moment, the plan is to move her down the Grand Union towards London over a few weekends.
  6. After lurking for quite a while, I'd like to say hi to all on these forums. Browsing through the threads here has provided me with invaluable insights which I've eventually put to - hopefully good - use, in choosing (& buying) a boat. She's a 50' Wessex ex-hire boat, made in '03. Her interior will need a bit of work, and she'd benefit from a paint job, but that's for the next few months. Right now I'm looking forward to bringing her down from Gayton, where she is at the moment, to the London area, and then enjoying some time on the G.U. and the River Lea. So anyway, thanks for the info that I've acquired so far from forum members posts, and in advance for advice that I'll no doubt be seeking as the delights and pitfalls of boating emerge into reality.
  7. I suspect you are wrong on this occasion also. Where I think you are definitely in the wrong is in your rudeness to 'tommytelford'.
