  1. I will maybe see you about on Thursday pm depending on what time I finish work etc. As I know you like your photography have a look at some of the pics I took with my drone over Lady lane http://s1056.photobucket.com/user/Kustomcut/library/BCN%202015?sort=3&page=1
  2. There were quite a few starting there last year wasn't there? I passed the soaking convoy coming from the other way. Then got caught in the small amount of hail by Star City.
  3. Will be heading from Lady Lane on Stratford Canal Friday am into Birmingham then onto start point who may be around the area on Friday day/night? Or even by Bluebell Pub/Lady Lane Wharf Thursday night.
  4. There is parking there outdoors and in a multi-storey, how safe/secure for overnight I would not like to say. Regarding the location of the moorings take a look at the picture the red crude line shows the entrance and where the moorings actually are, the blue line shows the multi storey car park.
  5. That's a shame. Ill mail your pate then.
  6. Junior Pate been made tonight so when I see you at some point over the weekend I will be handing out. That goes for anyone else who want some freshly made pate with a hint of chilli......
  7. Add us to the list. Team Carpe Vinum Daz (me) Mrs Daz Daughers x 2 and the large blue bean bag.
  8. I was a first time BCN Challenge last year and although very wet I loved it, was a bit achy when we woke up at 3am but the hot shower at farmers bridge top lock helped. This year I am aiming to do some of the few areas I have not yet travelled on the BCN, if they ever open up the canal going into brum that is, been stuck at home mooring at lady lane, although will hopefully provide my new crew member a days worth of locking when I take him to lapworth and back, thats if they are all open?
  9. Yes this year you get 7 extra points for starting in a x3 bonus area as per the areas on the planner. So everyone is heading up the W&E
  10. Yes have that heron one maybe get scanning so I can tape it and put on the wall, and begin my grand plan, although looking at the map so far this morning has completely overtook my day, maps are not always good things to look at on days off. How many will be starting at a 3 x bonus section can see the W&E been pretty packed it was just me and another working boat who started there last year then I headed round towards the throng coming up from Salford junction a convoy of boats in the lovley spring drizzle. Time to dust off the blue bean bag and get the kids all psyched up again although getting a little harder to do that this year round, I thought they enjoyed the moment I took the canopy down between star city and proofhouse even if it did drop a small amount of hail on us.
  11. Hi All, just a quickie last year I purchased and printed out a map of the BCN it was pretty big and used in many of my planning tactics (not to much success). I am really peved that I have waylaid the digital file as I want to print again and do some marking up, any idea of any online digital maps available for purchase as PDF or printable files? I have the laminated Heron map just wanted a biggie like my last one that I printed out on about 10 pages of a4 and stuck on a wall. Any ideas appreciated
  12. Lol just read this mate and will do trying to find a new charity for this years sponsors too
  13. We are in again this year probably the only Tupperware boat again
  14. We will be definitely taking part in Carpe Vinum again, sure we will be the only 20ft cruiser taking part but was really great fun. We will hopefully have the super large bean bag on the front too. Hopefully may see a few of you around the warings green area as we are moored by Clarrie at Lady Lane, and my daughters work at the Bluebell Cider House, so if around give me a shout. On a comletley different note I am looking for someone to repaint my cruiser, any one advise of anywhere that paints cruisers? Regards Darren
  15. 100% im in, looking for a larger ben bag for the front and maybe a new crew daughters are a bit loathe to agree to do it again. I loved it rain, leaky windows and all.
  16. Loved reading the above, however the bit highlighted in red please tell me the Loving Gazing comment was not aimed at Carpe Vinum as the 2 on board crew other than myself were my daughters!! My youngest who left an hour after we arrived (16 this year), and my eldest the sofa sitter who is 18 this year. Eldest will do again next year, youngest will take much bribing to do again.
  17. Hi All, I actually gave the bottle of Whiskey away on that afternoon to the boat we were moored against, so sorry it has all gone now, we are still just shy of our £500 target but hoping to hit it over the next couple of weeks. The sofa on the front is actually a beanbag not an inflatable but still yes I may go for a 2 seater next year, I was pretty happy with our score as we are a 20ft boat so .57 points per mile means we would need to circumnavigate the whole BCN twice in order to get the same score as the longer boats, something the outboard is probably capable of but that would get me disqualified from speeding Really enjoyed it and will be back next year.
  18. Does that mean at 20 ft I have little chance of winning ? Seriously unjust wanted to show that small cruisers can take part and have just asych fun even if they never really stand a chance of winning I can honestly say I loved every rain drenchedinute of it and cannot wait till next year. Kudos to all who took part
  19. We opened at 8am too even took a piccy if I opened beforE I would still have spent 40 mins at chasewater and still not found the clue and also what was at 22 on the soho loop my answer was nothing lol
  20. great WEEKEND, lots of new people and boats met, most who saw us coming down the Rushall flight must have thought we were lucks to be under the canopy, here is proof that I was not so luck all the time when the thunderstorm hit me full pelt with canopy off coming up the 5 locks towards proofhouse. Thanks Also to the lady from Indigo who added another £10 to our justgiving page, hoping to hit the £500 even though it's all over. http://www.justgiving.com/BCN-Challenge We will be back next year maybe with 2 sofas on the front.
  21. Enjoy the pate still plenty left, now heading up the old main line
  22.
