  5. Hi folks, I came across this while researching a local historical society walk I am planning, it is a pdf of health registrations in Wigan from 1900 to 1954 ish, thought id post the link in case it was useful/interesting to anyone.. https://www.wigan.gov.uk/Docs/PDF/Resident/Leisure/Museums-and-archives/archives/Leigh-Canal-Boats-Inspectors-Report-Book-1901-1960.pdf s

  7. Thanks everyone, I've used the NLS website but can't seem to find this particular map on it. Might be because the interface is a bit harder on a phone..
  8. Hi folks does anyone happen to know what map is used for the historic overlay on Open canal maps app?
  9. Thanks I'll give him a shout..
  10. Thats an interesting idea, I'll look into it. I've found a large reduction box gear in good condition and now only need the 20t pinion gear, does anyone on here have one for sale perhaps?
  11. Hi folks. Im on the look out for replacement gear sets for my Blackstone 3G gearbox and 2:1 reduction box. If anyone has any in good condition I'd be interested to hear from you. One thing I found interesting when looking at the parts list was that the JP2 and 3 seem to have different output gear part numbers, does anyone know why this might be? I presume they have the same number of teeth! The crankshaft spur gear (as its called) part number for the 2 pot is X87/11741 And for the 3 is X87/16740 Best regards.
  12. Interesting boats those ones, were they built by EC Jones?
  13. Just in case anyone is looking for a Kelvin K2 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/325362081884?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=TqS1FkgfR5a&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=zAHicM3sQmO&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

  15. I know someone with a river class butty who might like it, is it an original cabin fit out?
  16. Thanks for that, between Alan's pic and these I do know how we are going to do it now.. Very much appreciated!
  17. Thanks Alan, those photos are exactly what we were looking for! Thankfully we don't need to replace quite as much steel but it will certainly be a task to shape it nicely to fit as you have had done.
  18. Hi again folks, just a quick (but quite niche) one for you. Aimee and I are working on middle Northwich butty, Regulus, and are replacing some thin steel in the bow locker, I'm hoping to rebuild the junction between the chine plates and the stem post to look somewhat original and am hoping someone on here might have a photo of the baseplate /stem post junction or, indeed, of the bottom of the bow locker itself! Thanks in advance! Steve
  19. Here's an interesting one.. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/294978494647?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=RZMFLjamTZC&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=zAHicM3sQmO&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
  20. Hi folks, I picked up a spare JS3 for Prince, hoping the injector pump would be in good nick but unfortunately the body had corroded so badly inside that the cam followers were absolutely stuck fast.. I've taken it apart now and used some parts on another pump but if anyone needs any odd parts then please let me know. It'd mainly boil down to bolts, springs etc but you never know what people might need I do have the camshaft for it but there is some pitting to it, not enough to affect the timing in my opinion but it's not perfect.. If anyone needs any free bits then I can send them for the cost of postage. S
  21. Hm yes there is one similar at the Whaley bridge transhipment shed but there would be no way to support it that high at my place.
  22. Thanks, that could well be the sort of thing that was at the wharf.. I'll see if I can find other pictures to see how it was supported. The main thing with the land at my wharf is that it's really quite long and thin, so with the tramway tracks there isn't much room for a massive base.
  23. Thanks Ian, I do have a pamphlet on cranes of the Peak forest which shows them but they're the larger 3ton ones. I'd love one of these!
  24. Yeah but a 12ft tall oak post with iron bands is rather distinctive
