  1. Hi Has anybody swopped their leisure batteries for FLT batteries. If so pros and cons
  2. Hi thanks all, now sorted, put a fuse near the batteries, increased cable size, and put a switch in the positive cable, alls good now.
  3. Thanks for your help. i think it is the cables that are two small, plus they run all the way up to the control panel, then back to the fridge, which trebles its run. Why not run straight to the fridge, with a local switch and fuse
  4. Sorry folks was given slightly wrong info. The 10.7 reading was when the compressor was running. But it still goes into limp mode very quickly. Would a seperate battery close to the fridge help.
  5. Hi my son has a 12 volt fridge on his narrowboat. He is having to charge his batteries via a jenny, problems occur when he has used his 12 volt system for a while, his fridge goes into limp mode. He has taken a reading off his batteries and that gave him 12.6 volts, but at the fridge end he only got 10.7. Is this due to the cables being too narrow. When he charges up via his engine it take longer to go into limp mode, also when he was on mains hook up at a previous mooring, he never had a problem. His fridge is a Danfoss. Any help would be appreciated.
  6. Thanks for the replies. This problem has only appeared when my son went from shoreline to charging by genny. The volt reading as from the batteries direct and also looking at the permanent gauge on the boat, does this alter any thing, cheers
  7. Hi i have a Danfoss 12v fridge that has started to flash, indicating a low voltage. The only problem is that the voltage is showing 11.8 to 12.3 when it flashes. The manual states this should only happen at 10.4 volts. The other problem i have is that the two battery banks show different readings.one is 12.5v and the other is 13v, why is there a difference. thanks
  8. Have to agree with Midnight, my son had a boat at ripon, same experience, he got the impression they wanted to try and cash in on the Newcastle area market. He is now at a private marina fro a fraction of the price
  9. HiMy son has 4x 110 Numex maintenance free lead acid batteries, they have been chargeing at 15 volts is that okay?
  10. Hi there reading all the replys,do i take it that its not just a case of plugging in a genny. My son's washing machine is rated at 1500 watts, but a 2.4KW genny won't run it, any help please

  17. Hi, As the fuel tanks on NB's can suffer from sediment, do NB's have sediment traps fitted, ie the glass bowl type. If not are they easy to fit.
  18. Sorry if this has been covered before. I have a 57ft N/boat, i need an anchor for tidal waters. I was advised to get a 8KG Grapnal, is this big enough. What is the difference between a 8Kg and a 10kg grapnal, apart from obviously the weight. I was think more in the lines of how long are the blades, thanks
  19. Hi just spoke to the lock keeper at Naburn and he says it will be at least a fortnight before they let anything through as their electrics got flooded and the locks gates opened and then shut suddenly with the flow, that they have to check them for damage. hope this may help somebody with their plans
  20. Thanks Larkshall, that would be helpfull, but its looking like a no go this weekend.
