  1. I have a 6K Genny and an 80A charger. Batteries were low this morning so I put the Genny on. The charger started putting 66A into the batteries but when I put the 1K immersion heater on the charge went down to 50A. Switched the heater off and charge went back up to 66A. Why can a 6K Genny not give out enough to run the heater and give full power to the charger??
  2. Years ago lots of people thought these batteries were the bee's knees. They did LOOK very attractive with their yellow tops! Then, whenever they rang the owner they got short shrift or abuse. Then the company disappeared. Anyone know what happened?
  3. That is the problem. That's why I'm trying to find a fuse "set-up" that doesn't involve thin cable. Can't give the current/wattage as I'm not aboard.
  4. Batteries are 100% but I'll try running the engine next time.
  5. Yes. Don't know at the moment. 11 metres. I've never run the engine at the same time.
  6. It's a Lavac (Blake's) self pump out with a 12v pump.
  7. I have heavy cabling to my pump out 12 volt pump, which gets warm when operating, but the in-line fuse and short cables either side get really hot. Is there a fuse set up that is more robust?
  8. . Hmm. All my 230v appliances are powered through my 2K inverter, unless I'm running the generator. I sometimes turn on the 1K immersion heater when I'm on the move, assuming my Leece-Neville 160 amp alternator is big enough to keep the batteries topped up
  9. Thanks for the info.?How do you know all this?????btw the panels are 110W each ?
  10. What were their names? And can you name any other crews, for historical records before the information is lost forever?
  11. Hmm. I thought these controllers were well thought of.
  12. See my post #27. They changed over. Initially A was 32v and B fell to 13.7v. 30 minutes later A was 14.2v and B 22.4v!!
  13. 30 minutes later, system A registering 14.2v 25.4W, system B registering 22.4v 40.0W......Arghh!?
  14. Partial success but the plot thickens! I actually have 2 identical systems of 4 panels, running side by side, each connected to a tracer controller, feeding the same battery bank. Both were showing low voltage readings. I disconnected the positive leads from the panels to the controllers then reconnected (as per Matty40s). One system registered 32 volts?. The other registered 22 volts but gradually fell down to 13.7 volts?. Wattage. Readings are 25W? and 9.9W?. (Batteries 12.5v)
  15. 110watts. Also the correct voltage of the panels is not 20.8V, it's as below 18.6V (vmp) 22.0V (voc)
  16. Sorry I should have made it clearer. I mean only 14.3V from the panels and 13.2V from the batteries.
