Did I read in the Gardner manual once that the water pump greaser should be turned very seldom, as the grease is actually detrimental to the gland. Seemed a very strange state of affairs

Who says "Bow" (bow-tie)? Who says "Bow" (bow down)?

The anodes on my steel hulled boat show hardly any deterioration after 10 years in fresh water They were purchased as being Magnesium but I'm beginning to wonder if they are Aluminium or even Zinc. How can you tell which type they are?

Hi (my first post) I recently visited a Belgian dry dock, where they know a thing or two about barges, and was really surprised to find that some of the boats (38 metre x 5 metre Spitz) had NO anodes whatsoever and the massive (85 metre x 8 metre) working barge had 6 x 10" anodes just around the prop area. None anywhere else! The thinnest test spots on the 50+ years old spitz were 5mm, the rest were almost still 6mm, which is the original thickness. What the hell's going on?????
