  3. I'm comforted to know that it's not just me being impatient. I'm also in the process of having the bathroom in our house renovated, so the house is like a building site. I can't wait to start the engine and chug off for a bit of peace and quiet.
  4. When I first started this thread, I was wondering if a lifering was necessary in 3 feet of water, but I guess if a child is 2'6"... And what about locks, they're a bit deeper than 3 feet aren't they?
  5. Charge anything? They're not borrowing my beloved Cheeky, full stop, end of, not ever! I don't mind guests, and I'm really looking forward to that, but nothing would persuade me to hand over the keys to my pride and joy!
  6. Everyone keeps asking me, 'have you got your barge yet?' And what's with all the folk who think they'll be able to BORROW IT? I'm not joking, someone even said 'oh, I don't want it for free, what will you charge?'
  7. Aww, thank you. My lounge looks like a small branch of British Home Stores. All my things are in bags, raring to go... Trouble is, the longer I have to wait, the more shopping time there is...
  8. A couple of weeks ago, we purchased our boat, and had to wait a week or so for the little bits of work to be done on her so the BSC can be issued. Yesterday it was just about finished. But due to work and family commitments it's going to be about three more weeks till we can go down and start playing. I can't wait. I just can't. I really really can't. When we eventually get to her, there's flooring to be laid and some other jobs to do, we bought her as an unfinished project so she needs tittling up a bit before we can fetch her up nearer home. I want to put all my things in my new kitchen, and have a glass of wine, and polish the windows, and do all the girly stuff. My chap does all the man stuff, he likes tinkering, as men do. Oh please. I want to go NOW.
  9. Where's Michael Fish when you need him?

  15. Yes, this is the article I read. It chilled me to the bone.
  16. I also heard that people who are drowning don't make a noise, they don't thrash around, they just slip under the water quietly... it upset me a bit to think about it. My neighbours 6 year old daughter saved her friend in a swimming pool, nobody had noticed she was in trouble, she was just sinking quietly, then vanished. The friend went under the water and pushed her up to the top, she was ok but it could have been so tragic.
  17. Earplugs? Can't live without them, sleeping next to snore-a-lot.
  18. Not particularly aimed at the OP, but people with money always leave things late because they think their cash can purchase whatever they dream up. Sometimes, it can't. And sometimes, I love it when that happens... I don't want to upset anyone on here btw, I'm just saying that this happens regularly in the industry I work in.
  19. How lovely. I cannot wait to go exploring in our boat. Thanks for sharing.
  20. I suppose it's pointless fastening them down, but how do you stop them getting pinched off the roof? I always wonder that, with other things as well, I'm going to be fuming when stuff goes missing off my boat...
  21. Definitely going to get one, with a line attached. I know the water isn't very deep, but children aren't very tall, and though I don't have any of my own I'd hate to see a little one fall in and not be able to do anything.
  22. Well I was never any good at hoop-la, but I guess there might be a case where someone could make a grab for it?
  23. I like this idea. In all seriousness, I would hate to not be able to help someone. It's going on my shopping list.
