  1. Wasn't a blue and cream boat was it??? I have been named "Sterling moss of the boat world" because i like to get places quickly, But I always slow down to tick over when passing other boats and moored boats, I have had a bit of critisism for my boating skills as i am young and still learning. I just think its a damn shame that some people cannot have the common courtesy to flaming well slow down!!
  2. Its all the rage on them bathtubs with engines (GRP things) in london by all accounts!!
  3. We purchased our first narrowboat last july and were not set to take delivery until september but a mooring came available the week after we ordered the boat so we decided to pay for it to secure it. It just so happens it was the best thing we ever did, because a short time after that there was a fairly long list of people looking for a mooring at our spot. I'd say if its available TAKE IT!!
  4. Hey Peeps!! I own a professional mobile car and commercial vehicle valeting service across north and west yorkshire and as a very keen narrowboater myself I can see a market for Narrowboat Valeting (Mainly Exterior Polishing) I have seen on my travels hundreds of boats that could do with a good clean and proper polish and especially a large number of boats on brokerage. There is a boat for sale in the marina here that is really dull and the paint has gone matt and It seems to have stuck on the market been for sale a good 8 months and I reckon that with a good polish it would sell straight away. I'm not trying to sell anybody anything but would anyone be interested in boat valeting or am I just plucking at the wrong straws again????? Andy
  5. Thats not a boat!!! Its a bath with an Engine GRP's should not be allowed on the canals they're a hazard.

  9. Hey People, Having only been a boater for just over 12 months now, (Not sure i'm allowed to call myself a boater yet???). I truely beleive in paying your way and I am always going to keep upto my boat licence, But recently I went on a trip with my "Rosaline" upto Bingley 5 Rise and found that one of the lock keepers on the way has a narrowboat moored near the lock and they are not paying for a licence nor the mooring!!!! How are they going to stop licence evasion if they have evaders on the inside???? Is it me or is this somehow wrong?? Andy

  12. Hello people, In about 3 weeks i am intending to take my 'Rosaline' to Dewsbury for the bottom re-blacking and then following her re-launch I am planning to go off to Standedge tunnel before returning to Apperley Bridge. Is the tunnel worth a visit? cheers Andy
  13. Me and my girlfriend spent a week aboard devon shire cruisers smallest boat at 38ft??? ish. We thoroughly enjoyed our experiance so much so that we now have a 57ft Mike Christian classic josher for us to take our jolly hollys on!! The staff at shire cruisers are fantastic during the third day of our holiday i was a bit brutal with the engine and broke it but they came out to use straight away (whilst we absorbed some of the black stuff (guinness) and before we knew it we were off again enjoying the great yorkshire waterways. I personally would give them 9 out of 10 for there boats, service and canal training.

  15. We had a leak on the toilet which decided to put a whole 250 gallon tank of water under the ballast. We had to pull up the floor and pump it out because everything was becoming damp and smelling bad.
