  1. Hi Shaun. Yes it was great, hope you managed to sell your TR8, if not there may be someone on here who wants it. John.
  2. Hi Shaun. Fellow Stag owner, what a small world!! I'm fairly new to this as well. Bet you will have the first narrowboat with a 3.9 litre V8. John (KOY 23)
  3. Is that a funny? Or has it arrived. Mine was ordered on 29th Aug and arrived on Monday. Seems to work well but I'm sure there are limitations especially light output. Not complaining for £12 though. John
  4. Thanks for the lead. Have ordered the £12 one. John
  5. Thanks for your replies. I have had a close look and cannot see any plugs, only some recessed panel pin heads, so I guess it is pinned and glued onto batterns. I will do some gentle prising where I will cut out the lock and see what happens. I accept that I may have to start afresh. It looks a worthwhile mod as the ASEC locks look very strong compared with the current brass bolts.. John.
  6. I have bought some ASEC garage door type bolts as recommended on the door security thread. I was surprised how big they are and want to flush mount them in the door lining. The metal door has a folded edge all around into which the lining is recessed. I cannot see how the lining is fixed. I'm sure that there are options but is there a usual method? Thanks. John.
  7. Yes that's the one. As I see it, if the tank has a straight fitting the sender should be by the outlet. If there is a dip tube then it should be fitted near the bottom. John.
  8. Hello All. The outlet of my stainless water tank is about 3" above the base. Is it likely to have an internal dip tube? I am fitting a pressure type water gauge and need to know approx where the minimum level s. Thanks John.
  9. I'm a new boy this and keeping out of the battery connection argument but if you are worried about a bilge pump flattening batteries, you have a much more serious problem of a leak or faulty pump?? John.
  10. Thank you. Problem is that they do not do a light grey equivalent to Goosewing, I need to match that as I am not doing a total reprint. Looks like the International 10 year is the way to go. It is probably compatible with the Internatinal Oxford Blue that is already on the boat
  11. Hello. Should i repaint my boat using the expensive marine paints or good domestic paint such as Dulux trade gloss? It was originally painted with Masons paint then International Ranch paint. One of the colours is Goosewing which I can only find in Dulux. Tried searching but cannot find any information. Many thanks John
  12. Have you looked at the small electric water pumps made by Bosch and used on certain Mercedes cars, among others, to run the heater. They are 12v, rated at high temperatures and have around 16mm pipe connections. Not cheap new but a few quid from a scrappy. John. Oops just seen above post. That will teach me to read to the end of a thread before posting!
  13. Thank your for your replies. I will check the points you raised. The boat had had a BSS and survey in this condition, no mention as made of the ballast, so I assume there is no problem with gas drains. I believe that ballast should be as low as possible, so if I have to have it, I will move to either side of water tank. I am sure that the ballast in the gas locker weighs less than a full tank of water. John.
  14. Hello. We have just bought our first boat after a number of years of hiring. It is a 38' semi trad. The forward locker is filled by 2 gas bottles and broken paving stones. Are they there to lower the trim or improve handling and how critical is ballast? Could I move it either side of the water tank, to free up space? In addition there are probably 6 full size slabs on the cabin side of the100litre tank. Thank you. John.
