What about one of the historic boat shows - that might show a wide mix of different boats of different eras

Hi Erin - What sort of budget do you have, amd any specific requirements and where abouts are you? Would it help if any members let you know of any decent looking boats they see within your budget. Our marina has a brokerage and occasionally get a bargain that someone is looking to sell quickly

Lovely pics and stories. I was driving down the A5 towards Cannock from Shenstone yesterday morning (8.30ish)and there were 3 deer on a bit of wasteland near the M6 Toll. Its amazing how things are so different by boat- I see the signs for Pelsall and Rushall canal etc but haven't taken the boat down there yet- and must do, so appreciate the updates and tips

I've grown Nasturtiums but never tried eating them- Has anyone?. I find they attracted black fly. Are there any reasons why black fly would be any worse /better on a boat than a garden. Garlic is easy to grow and doesn't take up much space- I have some in a raised bed in the garden but I'm sure it could be grown in a tub I plant tomatoes from seed and this year have watered all my seedlings from the bottom- amazing difference, no surface mould at all , which I've sometimes had before. and finally- I dont know if this would be practical on a barge or a widebeam- but you can grow new potatoes in a bucket or sack like potato planter- Any thoughts- I love home grown new potatoes

Hi-he wasn't going to reverse out -he was adamant to try to pass us-it was only after lots of debate and explaining that it wasn't possible that he did. His attitude ranged from arrogant to idiotic-and he could quite clearly see us- I was sat at front and saw him coming in-I shouted at him and Gary blasted the horn several times-but initially he just ignored us. Both boat roofs would have been crushed as the tunnel roof curves in and we would have stuck. His boat was much newer than ours so still can't believe him-plus would he have invalidated his insurance when instructions clearly show single file

The landlord at the rising sun shackerstone is a great bloke and its a lovely pub-went there yesterday- the only day they don't do food-no probs he reccomended a local Indian takeaway gave us a menu and told us to have it delivered to the pub-great service and the takeaway was very good

There are single boat signs at the entrance and both guidebooks i have warn it isn't wide enough

Just had a real fright-still shaking. We were going through snarestone tunnel on the ashby-checked it was clear-you can see through-had our lights on We got 3/4 through and a boat starts coming through-blasted horn-several times and shouted-and then had a full debate trying to convince him it wasn't wide enough for 2 boats-his response was-lets try. Eventually he did reverse Had a great time so far and been around long enough to know this was an exceptional fool-but needed to have a rant-rant over-thanks guys
