  8. Here is an interesting web site on the facts of the Titanic 492 - The number of Titanic passengers who survived. 37 - The percentage of passengers who survived. 61 - The percentage of First Class passengers who survived. 42 - The percentage of Standard Class passengers who survived. 24 - The percentage of Third Class passengers who survived. 2 - Dogs who survived (both were lapdogs taken onto lifeboats by their owners). 20 - The percentage of male passengers who survived. 75 - The percentage of female passengers who survived My link I think the real truth of what really happened is now lost in history, but if you read the report by Lord Mersey; you will come to the conclusion even after the sinking, no one really knew what happen, the main people who knew the facts went down with their ship. All Except the Chairman/MD of the white star line who jumped in to a life boat, was Bruce Ismay and he was the one responsible for cutting down the original number of Life boats from 48 to a measly 16? ,
  9. here,s a simple cartoon on using spring moorings hope this helps
  10. The problem as I see it to use the canal network as a water grid would require: 1. The private owned, and very profitable foreign owed water companies, to lay out large sums of shareholders money, or put up the price per litre to drop consumption. 2. For this government to fund in the national interest a public owned water grid company to sell water to the private owned companies so the country gets any profit (Gordon’s mates will not be happy with this solution) . Call me a cynic it’s not going to happen.

  15. I agree with you, but I think our failure rather than the politicians, is most of the electoral is too lazy to vote. Even if you can’t agree or vote for any one on the ballot paper, you should void it by writing across the names, as under our system the returning office most count spoilt ballet papers, and report them along with the candidate’s results. Then lets the politicians explain why most ballot papers are spoil instead of over 50 percent of people not voting Remember the winner is also voted in by the cannot be bothered to votes
