  1. It doesnt have to be metal can be wood, I'll post some pics MJG if I do finally get one. Does anybody know anywhere cheap for mushroom vents at the moment? I need 4 of them.
  2. The boat currently needs a couple more ventilation vents (in my opinion) and I'm hoping somebody can fit them and a pigeon box. There's 2 people I've got in mind who will but my roof is not curved it's flat - straight and meet at a slope angle at the top, if that makes sense? That's the only way I can describe it.
  3. What do you think the result would be like if I got one from Midland Chandlers and painted it myself and stuck some bargeware decals of eBay as a LAST resort?
  4. I like midland chandlers one with the 2 glass window eyes. I've seen some before that's more fancy and had tradionsl patterns on and painted in blue and green etc.
  5. I've looked on the net can't find anybody who sells pigeon boxes. Does anybody know anybody who sells any?

  7. The last people who had it had fitted out kitchen and put joints over it so it can't be removed and built it in, absolutely silly. Earlier at the marina I was walking down to my boat and saw 2 ladys panicking and the next thing I saw an old gentleman had fallen in the side towards bank and he didn't have any physical strength to get himself out. I think it must have been the shock and not sure what to do a lady ran upto the broker office and Ralph came with a ladder and we helped him out. An ambulance was called but I hope he is ok, I've never fell in myself but I've slipped but always luckily managed to catch hold onto something.
  8. That's exactly the fridge onboard.
  9. I've been down to the boat and the fridge has wood over it so it's been integrated into the units. I can't even pull it out but i do have a model number which is LG GC 051SS. I'm on my phone but can't find any information about it anywhere.
  10. When is this being brought in does anybody know? Will the license fee be a private fee at £700 or £1450 (rough figures of what it is on the top of my head. Is there any links regarding this? Thanks Andrew
  11. Wanting recommendations for people for a full engine service for my B.M.C 1.5 near Mercia Marina or someone who can do it onsite. I would do it myself but just don't have the time at the moment. I have tried Stuart Fletcher Marine service and he's pretty busy but not yet heard from Aqua boar services yet. Anybody? Andrew
  12. I understand that an inverter converts 12v to 240 but I confused myself on the last bit with regards to running it on 12v I apologise. What I MENT to have posted is will it be better to run 240 from inverter constantly or just 12v? Which would have a slower impact on the batteries? Soon I'll have 3 leisure batteries instead of 2.
  13. I will look at the weekend and post back about this. I do wear hearing aids too so that is probably why I cannot hear it. Would the fridge be better running of 240 constantly on an inverter or a 12v constantly on an inverter?
  14. Hi Alan, I understand your point and I agree on the basis it may look safe wired up but not physically. I also had my doubts to that only a qualified electrician could confirm and acknowledge the safety of the wiring and the power throughout the wiring itself. Once I get it all sorted it will be inspected for my own and others piece of mind and safety. Through the help of people on this forum and post like yours have helped me put things more in perspective and what needs and should be done etc. Im currently looking at a new silverline 2000w inverter on eBay to replace my sterling 1000w inverter. Does anybody have any reviews on Silverline inverters?
  15. It is well wired and insulated and there isn't any cables in reach - which could cause danger to anybody. Their is a few wires from inverter to batteries under stern but they are protected by a thick pipe and the wiring is carried underneath the stern so they're hidden. It passed a BSS test last year and the examiner said there wasn't anything that needed doing as it is a perfectly safe boat that more than complies with standard regulations. The fusebox is high above the bed at feets end and that too is also safe. I will get everything checked over through and thoroughly before I let it out. It is a good layout for a hireboat and all switches are in cupboards and aren't insight. When I go to the boat I will work out a risk assessment and analyse what may need doing.
  16. I once saw car tyres completely all over hull on both sides but each tyre had a piece of wood fastended to tyre. It didn't look pretty but it would stop ice forcing against the hull as the wood would take the impact.
  17. I'm going to look when I go down to the boat this weekend but as I mentioned before I've never really checked. I'm still learning about the boat even though I'm fully competent at handling it is what I think I've done practicing more rather than familiarising myself with the equipment onboard. I will be noting absolutely everything this weekend and she will see some big changes soon. I do actually feel quite negative that I don't actually know the details of the basic things on my boat but as I say I'm still learning. I only purchased her less than a year ago. All the problems will be rectified and she is booked in for her hull blacking, a new inverter, more batteries, 12v tv&fridge a full engine service and repaint is what she will undergo shortly.
  18. I agree MJG and I already plan on buying a 2KW inverter. Also I'm unsure how my alternator would handle the charging of an extra battery.
  19. Ok, I'm wanting to know this because I intend or possibly intend on hiring it out soon so I'm trying to gather everything together.
  20. How long should I expect to get to power fridge from inverter and 2 leisure batteries?
  21. The last one just like a standard house plug.
  22. Ok, but when I put something else into that plug like my phone charger or microwave it works. Its a small half size under counter fridge which isn't big but adequate. We rarely went cruising on it however looking back I regret not going cruising.
