  1. Hi As anyone had any experience with the Kipor KDE6700 diesel generator are they noisy, reliable are parts freely available. I have been offered one and would just like to know a bit more before I commit this one is rated at 4.5/5.0kva Thanks for any info
  2. I have been told by a number of people that blacking at norbury tends to be done rather hastily and put back in the water to quickly. And then tends to come off its only what I've been told that there work is shoddy
  3. Rang Nantwich but can't live aboard and only there staff can do the work. Was looking to do the gunnels at the same time it was out. That's why I'm looking for a dry dock as the British weather is not always good
  4. Thanks I will try Nantwich, it's just that I have had a lot of bad reports about norbury so trying to avoid the place.
  5. Morning folks Apart from norbury can anyone tell me where the closest covered dry dock is to market drayton where I can black the boat myself Thanks
  6. Looking at the sanyo 240w datasheet the maximum pv of one panel is 43.7 volts would the victron mppt controller 150/85 be okay with 4 of these panels. Thanks
  7. Well that was an interesting video thanks for sharing. Parallel it is. Cheers Tony
  8. And what is the best way to join solar panels in series or parallel. What will give me the best option
  9. Nothing wrong with filling your own bottles. Keep it in the back of the car a 13kg holds about 25 litres that's what it says on my adapter anyway. Costs about £15 a bottle. We use a bottle every 3 to 4 months for cooking. Now I have converted the genny from petrol to gas I will be using a lot more gas. Gas is about 56p a litre so a lot cheaper than petrol
  10. Thanks for the reply WotEver picking my panels up on Wednesday either going for 3 x sanyo 240w or may go for 4 x sanyo 240w. They are the last 4 he as got so I'm going to see what deal I can get. Then I'm looking at either a victron mppt 150/70 or the victron mppt 150/85. That's why I'm just asking questions about cable sizes and fuse size so I can get everything right. ?
  11. How close would I need to get the controller to the batteries to be able to use the 35mm2 cable
  12. Am I restricted to what cable lengths I can use between panels and controller and between the controller and batteries. I was looking at probably using the victron 150/85 mppt but I see the terminal size is only 35mm2/AWG2 so I wouldn't be able to fit the 50mm2 cable
  13. Sanyo 240w panels I have found 4 at a good price. It's the last 4 they have. I think panasonic have now taken them over
  14. What size cable would I require from the panel to the mppt and then from the mppt to the batteries. And what size fuse do I need from the mppt to the battery. There will be a total of 1000w of panels. They will be wired in sequence Sorry I meant to put wired in parallel
  15. Would this eBay item do the trick 151999894284 and would it be able to handle the power on the start up procedure
  16. Wheres the best place to get a 12v battery powered timer and can it be connected at the back of the main on and off switch
  17. Hi What's the best way around putting a timer on my mx60 I would like it to come on for an hour a day while I am at work so I have hot water when I get home. Sometimes I don't finish until 11.00pm. So it's not fair to run it so late at night. I am off grid but have solar panels so looking to have it on for a hour about midday when I know the power will be put back in the batteries. Thanks
  18. Thanks I will give him a text I know I saw a boat doing pump outs but didn't get the name or number off the boat didn't realise he did pump outs until the last minute
  19. Hello Just wondered if anyone as got a number for the fella who goes up and down the shroppy and does pump outs. He passed us and I noticed the coal for sale sign but didn't see the pump out sign until the last minute so I was unable to get his number. Thanks
  20. I would like to know of any good boatyards on the shroppy that make a good job of blacking. We are moored near market drayton and I'm looking around for September time Thanks
  21. Hi Anyone use an in-line water filter from the water tank if so any recommendations for a good one to use and where to buy from Thanks
  22. Because mac of cygnet it will be a diy project and I will achieve a better finish in smooth rather than textured. And for the few times I go on the roof it's not worth making a mess of it. I should imagine it will be easier to keep clean as well as I think a gritted surface looks scruffier as it gets older
  23. I found the small electronic board on the shunt had gone on mine giving some very unusual readings. Was told because of its location it is prone to damp etc. A new board cost about £15. I use the victron battery monitor
  24. Hi I am going to be painting my roof soon and I would like to take it back to bare metal ,at the moment it as got anti slip on the roof but I want to go for a smooth finish. As anyone used a scabbler with success does it mark or score the metal how long would it take to strip a 70ft roof with one of these machines. Thanks I also saw one of these machines in the hire shop and wondered if this would do the job as well
  25. Are these scabblers good for removing paint and rust and do they leave marks on the metal
