  1. If theres any doubts in your mind, walk away. Plenty more out there. If its your first and your going to live on it, take your time and dont rush into anything. Always view a boat more than twice I feel, you always notice or get a different feel for it every time.

    Pets?

Were the birds dancing in the cages? Did they dance down the tiller too? Am I thinking of the wrong sort of birds? oops on wrong forum!! Fletcher the Patterdale isnt too impressed with boating!
  3. If you dont use blue, what do you use? a peg on your nose must be essential!
  4. Cheers! Our existing tv doesnt have the conventional 12v cigarette lighter type socket though. I am sure I can take the plug off the old and fit to new, BUT this I think will cease the warranty! I havent had a good look at the existing tv yet as we only got the boat on Friday. I am not really bothered about watching the tv while on the boat. Its the other half who is!
  5. Can anyone recommend a supplier of 12v LED or LCD TV. Must obviously be digital/freeview and DVD?? I know theres loads of web sites but any preferences from you lot would help! Thanks!
  6. thanks again Steve, i hope theres a link on BW website to do this!
  7. steve its the actually tube thats loose at the bottom and top of it, where the handle with the cover on is attached, the brass fitting which your turn to squeeze the grease.
  8. After spending our first weekend on our first boat, I have noticed the graser tube comes loose at the top and bottom after the boat has been travelling. Does it just need a good tighten, how tight should it be? Hand tight or tightened with the aid of tools?
  9. After just spending the first weekend on our first boat, do we need to inform BW about the change of keepers? Also our licence is due January, whens best to renew the licence?
  10. Super off there tomorrow anyway to look at Toplac. £1.68, odd price!
  11. Spill the beans then, where are they??
  12. Is there such thing as a boat scrap yard, or a yard which sells used parts off boats? I am after a button for my TFX throttle lever.
  13. As a novice to painting boats, but not a novice to painting. Can I use a top quality household undercoat (dulux say) if I am using International Toplac. All I am doing is stern doors and throttle mount or should it be Toplac undercoat. Loads of website stock it, but is there a recommended "cheap" one.
  14. Good innit! Picking up and spending first weekend on our first boat, lets hope it keeps up for a bit longer before the white stuff comes!
  15. Bit of a bodge, but will do temporary till I get round to it, is cut the bottom out of a tupperware box and silicone it on and put the lid on to cover it when not in use. May sound daft but keeps it water tight till I can get it done. Silicone will easily scrap off as I will be painting the part of the boat the panels on anyway.
  16. super, thanks for that. What about a lid. I know a company who deal in stainless products. Could get them to bend some steel to form a lid. But the problem is how to mount it.
  17. sorted! Took my teenage computer whizkid daughter to do it.
  18. No name on it, is it a self made one? It needs a cover to stop water getting in as dials and switches are going rusty and barrel for key getting stiff.
  19. How hard/easy is it to change the instrument panel including the lock barrel? Ours needs swapping urgently. Where's the best place to get one? Ideally the same dimensions as existing
  20. Can someone tell me how I add a photo from my docs to a topic, I've found the "add a link /media" tab, but lost with add a photo??
  21. we're moving our first boat from its brokers to Barton this weekend. Look out for us will you! Fiasco da Gama. Whats your boat called??
  22. I was there on Thursday for our first boats survey, while the surveyor was doing the hull and engine, I was on board familiarising my self where everything is and having a good luck at how easy/hard it is to maintain. I got off while he surveyed the internal side and then went through everything with him once he'd done, finding out exactly how things worked and where pumps and valves are, etc. I would definitely go on the day. Dont forget to take a camera, note pad and tape measure.
