I have my boat on the river great Ouse and enjoy a trip to ely every now and then. But this is getting harder and harder as the same 10/15 narrow boats seem to have taken root. I would say 75% of the boats have not moved for 2/3 months leaving very little room for anyone else, these are ment to be 48hr moorings. Now why should the local council who don't have enough money have to waste money getting rid of these people.
Maybe they look on and will see the error of there ways and move off
Before we got our own boat, we hired from lee and mark two years on the trot. And had two excellent holidays very good value and service. Looking at most the threads on here seems people like nothing more than moaning and bitching about something wether it be going to fast or or to slow or something else.
Do you think there are still food mountains, wheat has gone from £80 a ton to £200 in one year this is because there is not enough and yeilds have been down due to weather around the world this years crop is alot worse than last. perhaps on the canals and rivers we should wait for the lock to be the right way round for us to enter and make sure the lock is full to capacity with boats before filling or emptying so to try and help.
do you think that leisure should come before industy, I know there are a handful of people making a living selling coal and fuel on the canals but do you not realise that no rain means no food = higher food prices. some areas are a total write off and most of europe are in the same boat.
