THE BATCHWORTH BOAT RALLY, RICKMANSWORTH May 17
THE BATCHWORTH BOAT RALLY, RICKMANSWORTH

This rally was started in 2024 when at very short notice the huge Rickmansworth Festival was cancelled. The Waterspace team decided to keep the boat gathering but as a much smaller event. With some enthusiastic parters it was a huge success in 2024.

So Next year as an appropriate "Theme" for the times we are Calling all GUCCCo, FMC, Severn & Canal boats.particularly those built in 1935 as next year the Batchworth Boat Rally would like to see them all gathering at Batchworth in Rickmansworth to celebrate their 90 years.
The rally will take place on 17/18th May, two weeks after the cavalcade at Little Venice.
Please put the date in your calendar for next year and drop us an email then we will make sure to include you on the mailing list when bookings open in January.

Where does CRT take their grid references from ?
Where does CRT take their grid references from ?

Mike Todd replied to Tonka's topic in General Boating

My concern us that wtw is commercially owned and could be withdrawn at any time. Use if wtw generally means using proprietary systems somewhere and is open to abuse and excessive monetisation. Yes, I know that OS own grid refs but anyone can generate them from eg lat long data.

My guess is that the contract is one inherited from British Waterways, and long predates the creation of CRT. The circumstances at the time would have been different, with the docks probably still being dredged for carrying craft, and the whole agreement being seen as a sensible arrangement between two publicly owned bodies.

I understand from someone who used to work for Ford, that they never made much profit from selling Fiestas. They made money from PCP contracts, their dealers made money from servicing them, and Ford made money by selling their dealers spares. The problem for Ford, is that people tend to buy the same brand when they replace their car, or trade up to a larger model. Existing Fiesta users who lease theirs on a PCP contract, will find, when it runs out, that Ford cannot offer a like-for-like-sized replacement, and so are likely to switch to another brand that does offer a car of similar size. Not everyone needs, or can afford, a car larger than a Fiesta.

b00ke23 replied to Halkyon's topic in Boat Equipment

Yes that's what I meant. I while ago I was tempted to get an old Honda EX650...lovely little generator, exceptionally quiet and very well engineered. However I remember doing some research and the output waveform from it is so awful that a Victron inverter won't even power up on one. This goes for a lot of modern electronic equiptment.....only really good for power tools and filament lights. Hence asking the OP what type of generator it is.
