I have just received this enews from the CCT.

 

SAUL CANAL FESTIVAL CANCELLED

 

I am sorry to say that I am not joking either.

 

What would have been the 11th annual Saul Canal Festival & Folk on

the Water weekend has been cancelled.

 

At the time of issuing this ENews the campsite and car park are under

some 4 feet of water; even if it drains away before the weekend we are

going to be left with a quagmire.

 

Please pass this message on to anybody and everybody you know who was

planning to attend as a visitor or volunteer.

With the Severn closed, most of the visiting boats were being prevented from getting there. This must have been the final straw. Let's hope they are insured. The music marquee and others were already up, and presumably now underwater, as must be the WRG camp. Hope they're all OK.

 

Another setback for the Cotswold Canals in this miserable year.

 

Desperately sad.
