Lister st3

Hi there, got a Lister st 3 when hot you remove the caps over the rocker covers and get excessive smoke and pressure, will this be caused by piston ring blow by, and worn valve guides only when hot! many thanks

Possibly. If you remove the rocker covers, each head has a pipe that stands up over the inlet port. This is the engine breather and needs to be clear.

 

You can unscrew the breather tube and clean it out

 

Apart from this, how is your Lister?

Hi Richard, mines fine thanks this is a friend of mines, I will try that, if not might look into a top end overhaul, engine is abit smokey and fins on the bores look to be well clogged up
