Bridgewater Canal.Guide

Having a look through some of my canal books the other day and came across a" Bridgewater Canal Guide",published by the Ship Canal Company in early 1970s. Under the section "Pleasure Craft" I think some classic boat owners may be amused by the following quote. "The company will not issue a licence to any owner of a boat whose craft is considered to be unfit for use on the waterways. Old commercial or working boats,that have long since passed their usefull life and wide boats are not generally considered for pleasure craft conversion."

and they don't want new purple boats with solar panels and bikes on the roof either... ;-)
