A big thanks to all, as usual this is the best place to get some information, having a week of and going south to check out a few sites and have a look around a few boats to get what would suit our needs, we are really getting excited at the prospect of making the dream a reality, waited over 20 years to do this so want to do it right first time round. detective.gif

Well good luck Wullie, I too wanted to buy a narrowboat for over 20 years, but life, kids, work, mortgages got in the way. However about 18 months ago the stars started to come into perfect alignment and after a long period of serious research I bought my very own boat in August, maybe there will be headaches ahead but at the moment I think it's probably one of the best decisions I've ever made.

Can't see many marinas having a problem with what you are proposing but as said, tell the harbourmaster what you propose to do and he'll let you know if that would be ok.
