110 amp alternator problem

Greetings All.

I have a Barrus Shire 45 with twin alternators and a Travel Pack. Recently, on engine start, the 110 amp domestic, (4x110Ah batts), alternator has been slow to get beyond 14 volts and frequently failed to reach 14.6 volts. Today, having had the landline charger on, with the batteries fully charged I fired it up and the reading was 14.6 volts, rising to 14.9 volts, dropping after half an hour to 14.4 volts and rising twenty minutes later to 14.9 volts.

Is this likely to be a failure of the alternator regulator? If so should any reputable "non-marine" repair shop be able to fix it? I am in Stourport on Severn and Cox's Electrical is a fair old drive.

Thanks in anticipation.

Bob.
