Lister ST oil - What would you use?

The appropriate grade, according to the manual, is 15/40 but beyond that are there any other considerations? Would banging in some semi synthetic be a good idea or does this engine want something more specialist than an off the shelf at Halfords oil? I changed the oil in an ST3 last week, not mine though, that had something from Morris iirc.

I'd recommend a "classic" oil with the correct viscosity rather than using semi-synthetic. Modern oils have too many detergents in to use in a vintage diesel.

 

Morris classic oils are ideal to use in these types of engines, I use straight 30 in mine.

Cheers for that. I think I put straight 30 in last time, been to sleep since then though. I reckon I'll go for Morris Classic 10/40 this time. It's easy enough to get hold of without spending stupid amounts of cash.
