Arthur Marshall
Just to say I've just got back from an entirely peaceful trip up and down the Caldon, which may not be any benefit to the boater who got done over there a couple of weeks back, but it does look like it was a one-off. I did note that Nicholdon's latest says that there are good moorings at Hanley Park (which in one sense os true and in another is not), but anyway... don't let one bad experience put you off. It's grotty at the bottom, and stunning at the top.
Paul C
We've had pleasant trips on the Caldon too, with no issues with any of the mooring spots we chose.
trackman
Haven't been for a while but we've done the canal several times without any trouble. Once clear of Stoke suburbs it's beautiful. Stoke and suburbs used to be interesting but mucky, now the potteries are gone, they're just mucky! We have made it policy to get above Engine Lock before mooring overnight.
