Hi you wonderful people!.

Change of route for our holiday next summer.

Been looking at the route and I would like it if people could help with nightly stop offs near pubs and also things to do along the way.

This is the planned route:

Each full day will be approximately 5 hours and 32 minutes cruising

First day of trip

On the Grand Union Canal (Grand Junction Canal - Main Line) at Braunston Bottom Lock No 1

(6.33 miles and 0 locks)

Second day of trip

On the Grand Union Canal (Grand Junction Canal - Main Line) at Chapmans Close

(10.56 miles and 13 locks)

Third day of trip

On the Grand Union Canal (Grand Junction Canal - Main Line), nearly at Yardley Wharf

(13.03 miles and 7 locks)

Fourth day of trip

On the Grand Union Canal (Grand Junction Canal - Main Line), just past Stoke Bruerne Bottom Locks Nos 19 and 20 (having turned at New Bradwell Winding Hole)

(13.88 miles and 2 locks)

Fifth day of trip

On the Grand Union Canal (Grand Junction Canal - Main Line) at Watling Street Bridge No 22

(13.59 miles and 7 locks)

Sixth day of trip

On the Grand Union Canal (Oxford Canal Section) at Shuckburgh

(11.65 miles and 13 locks)

Seventh day of trip

On the Oxford Canal (Southern Section) at Napton Marina

(1.99 miles and 0 locks)

As I said, ideally at nice country pubs or fairly quiet safe places - away from towns and any trouble spots. Maybe even suggest a better route!!!.

Cheers guys in advance!.

Some pubs and help??

Day 1 Go extra lock moor between 1/2 reasonable pub beyond Lock 2

Day 3Walk into Yardley village ,if early enough there is a shop and there is a pub called Coffee Pot

Day4Go on a couple of locks and walk up to Stoke Bruenne. Museum worth a look if early enough and Boat Inn worth a pint as they have Guest Ales.

Either(one mile) before you turn at New Bradwell ,or after, on your way back there is a BIG Tesco @ Wolverton, right next to the Station where you can restock your groceries.

Have a good trip

Again, you're planing to tie up in a very short pound. One lock further is a longer pound but adjacent to the busy A508 trunk road. BW still frown on you mooring here however, I know as I was resident at this spot for 2 weeks for the excellent road access.

Carry on up "The Thick" and there's a long pound between locks 15 and 16, or go right on up to the top of the flight and you risk not finding an overnight moring if you arrive too late.

Carry on a couple of miles to the aproaches to Cosgrove and there's a canal side pub on the right by a bridge.
