BMC 2.2 leaking oil-is this normal?

Featured Posts

Old bmc engines where prone to leak oil. A cure can be attempted by changing all the gaskets which is a major job. Clean the engine and rub brasso liquid or windowlean as a mask to show where the oil is seeping from. often the oil filler cap is a poor seal. the rockerbox cover could have been over-tightened and warped. The sump breather pipe from the sump to the air intake could be blocked. Until the Japs showed us how with non porous casting and less oil in the sump as a design all engines leaked oil. In the end the government changed the law to make it an offence to leak oil onto the road.
