  1. Thanks Richard-Is it just the case of tightening as somethings worked loose?-the leak seems to be coming from where the brass pipe goes into that pump but i will check all along as u suggest..Its isn't oil as I did the "taste test" and its quite thin. I am rebuilding the inside-its working well apart from this-I will post images of progress but all stuff on top it off and I am scrapping the outside ready for paint-Its getting there.....
  2. Hi everyone I think I have a slight diesel leak-Its hard to trace but maybe it is where the brass fuel pipe goes into the lift pump (IS THAT WHATS ITS CALLED!?)-its the pump thingy that u use to pump the diesel when u trying to rid the system of air; which I am all to familiar with(now sorted))-any ideas as its filling the engine bay now with about a few millimeters all across it since about 2 weeks since I cleared the engine bay bilge out-any advice appreciated. FB
  3. Very interesting...Yes self draining-there are two small draining holes in the front deck about a few inches above the water line-yes I do have a separate bilge for the stern tube which has a little water in at-I have a bilge pump for the main engine compartment-and an bilge for the oil/diesel. I have a window leak but I have re silicone it yesterday-no water systems-so most likely rain water and condensation-it is a nuisance as I have to clear out by hands-unless u have an idea-I want to laminate the area so I should leave a hatch I suppose
  4. Hi everyone I was investigating the bathroom area (as I am laying tiles/painting etc) I noticed yet again water in the bilge compartments under the boards-not a lot about an inch-as I have had a flooding issue before maybe it is water left over from that but generally there is water-now I know its rain water as the other area in the cabin that can normally fills to about 3 inches if not attended to is now very dry as we have had no rain for a while-is it that older boats have wet cabin bilges as a normal design and new boats dont? Is it the norm to have water in the cabin bilges with older boats? thanks for reading.....
  5. Thanks for all the info-the problem is I dont know much about this engine-I dont know where the components are you have mentioned except a few things like injectors etc-So what I will do is to photograph the engine and if you could help me identify where the components are such as the oil filter for instance, then I could try to trace-there is a definite oil leak as the bay is filling very slowly but it is filling again-also a very small diesel leak where the brass pipe enters the thing u pump where u want to bleed the system-I was told what it was but i cant remember!
  6. Well as for topping up I have had the oil light come on before and it was very low-I have topped up since (about a month ago)-and noticed today the dipstick is now on minimum so it has dropped.
  7. Hi Everyone I just cleaned out the oil bilge under the engine using sawdust-It worked very well!-That was on Friday-I looked at the bilge today and there is oil in it again about half the area 1/2 cm aprox-is this normal? Thanks for any advice.

  9. Checked glow plugs for sure? I dont think its a fuel problem like what I have had.
  10. Can u believe its working!! I have started the boat 4 times every day last week- and it roars to life after 35 second glow plug start-I also cleaned out the oil under the engine with sawdust-it worked very well- Can u clean these rather than replace?
  11. Had a close look today-the surface is a bit undulating-the fiberglass is quite difficult to sand back but I could try scraping it-another idea is to install marine ply; 3-4mm on the sides.
  12. Hi everyone just an update... Yes it did need bleeding and filters changed x 3-It started and I have moved. I did get someone to do it but I watched carefully and should be able to do it- however the pumping bit is quite awkward, and did take about 100 pumps for the fuel to come through. The 2 filters at the back where very dirty sludge like so could explain the cutting out etc.
  13. Jules fuels through Leighton buzzard on Friday heading south.
