If we can get hold of some info on the box, sounds like a plan

I have full manufacturer's documentation for the transmission, including a detailed narative of how the clutches work. If you can PM me your email addy I'll send you the PDF.

 

Access to the boat is brilliant, it's at Orion Narrowboats at Ashwood marina, right on the crane wharf. The back cabin is being built now with a removable wall for good access to the gearbox, and the Epping stove is installed and can be lit to make the boate all warm and cosy...

 

My gut feeling is a 'peaceful few hours' will see the gearbox dismantled again, and careful examination will hopefully reveal the reason for the fault. Depending on whether the problem is clear, we can then plan a definitve solution.
