"Crystal Hale, who died in 1999, aged 83, and who championed the cause of the Regent’s Canal in the 1960s, is to be finally honoured with a plaque at the 25th Angel Festival on Sunday. SHE was described as “Islington’s Boadicea”, a formidable campaigner who fought a long and hard battle against British Waterways when it wanted to fill in the canal at the much-loved City Road Basin."
