classicstove
Took a hire boat down the whole length from Five Locks Basin to Brecon a couple of years ago Well worth doing and the canal really does cling to the hillside Slightly different are narrow locks that are 8'6'' wide so a narrowboat has room around it ! Great pubs (research captured below) and walks with all facilities within easy reach although normally up/down a hill
magpie patrick
Hi thinking of cruising up Brecon in Wales anyone ever cruised that waterway what are your views of it Assuming you like mountainous scenery, and are content with only a few locks (6 each way) then it is a must do. Walked it boated it done it. It's arguably the most attractive canal in the UK, and the only one entirely in a National Park
warwickshireman
Highly recommended. Scenic and quiet. Slow progress as very shallow. The definitive guide book is published by the author John Norris. ISBN 0951799142 email: jrn@norbirch.demon.co.uk Well worth buying.
