I suspect it may well be worse than ceramic copies. The constant heating and cooling cycles will expand any hairline cracks naturally found in the slate. I have no idea as I'm not a 'materials' expert but I have been reading elsewhere where slate is used for fire hearths/surrounds I'll do further investigations before I make up my mind and speak direct with stove suppliers/manufacturers then Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
