I have a very old Yanmar pmx 8.

The gear change into forward is very stiff and can sometimes only be done with 3/4 max revs.

The change into reverse is fine, no problems at all.

I have removed the control cables and tried the lever direct to the gearbox with the same stiff gear change found.so it cannot be the cables etc.

Any ideas !!

That is the only way to get her into gear now.

Just will not budge below that.
