AnnC
We are doing part of the Stourport Ring from Willington via Great Haywood, Autherley Junction, Kiddeminster, Worcester, Birmingham and Fradley. The problem is having spent the day on Tardebigge Locks and overnight in the Tardebigge Wharf / Alvchurch area, it is only a few hours run the next day to Birmingham Gas Street area. From Gas Street we are planning on stopping in the Minworth/Curdsworth area. To avoid the short day is there any places around Aston or Salford Junctions or Bromford which you could recommend as a safe overnight stop. This would then allow us to get to Hopwas rather then Minworth Curdsworth the next day. This will save us a half day and the journey back to Willington more relaxed. Thanks for any help Ann Edited September 12, 2009 by AnnC

Thanks for any help Ann There is a safe, if a little noisy, mooring next to Star City on the Garrison flight. Could involve some reversing though. There is a better safe and quiet mooring on the offside next to the Dolland and Aitchson headquarters that we have used. Could be called Cuckoo Wharf but I don't think so as it is further up the Aston flight than that. Richard
romseyles
I hope this might help but it`s not a direct answer. We did Tardebigge (upwards) in 3 hours 20 minutes with four of us about 3 weeks ago, no-one coming down and only one in front at the last few locks so appreciate that is fairly good going. Previously we`ve done them in 4 hours and 3 and a half. You would be really unlucky if it took all day. Overnight in Alvechurch would give you the Crown for dinner, visitor moorings just over the bridge. Gas street is 3 and a half/ 4 hours from here so you could push on if you are lucky with Tardebigge. If you did get to the Minworth area I would push on past the Hare and Hounds, we were broken into 10 years ago whilst in the pub and the police who attended suggested we were not quite far enough away from the "estates" to be safe, we might have been unlucky of course. The top paddles on the Worcs and Brum are pretty heavy going until you get them open a bit.
