becki
we have been looking at second hand boats and have one that is really nice. it has a pump out toilet which we would like to change to a cassette. can any one tell us if we could simply remove the toilet cap of the tank (after cleaning) and put in a cassette or is it more complicated? many thanks becky

If the tank is integral i.e. using part of the boats hull, then best have it removed and make good that part of the hull used. The chemicals used in pumpouts will cause corrosion to the steel and if just covered over and left to fester will have expensive consequences. If the tank is stainless steel you won't have that problem as it will be independent of the hull, however it will take up valuable space so might be better to remove it and possibly sell it on. Why not [assuming you have the space] just add a cassette and have the choice of both? Edited. Too many hulls.
